A Wonderful Delight

A simple, peaceful magical place. This was my 19th year there. Several years ago I lost a leg and these wonderful people make my room and bathroom handicap ready. The staff are friendly, efficient and speak English. Everyone looks like they are happy to come to work. That means a lot to me. There is a restaurant that opens from 7 am to 9:30pm. Great food and staff and a great Happy Hour! I love to sit by the pool in the beautiful garden and read and watch the amusing birds. Their beach is across the street. I will always stay at my home away from home. Thank you Ada and Yara and everyone!

Come without high expectations

The grounds are nice, the pool is nice, and the hot tub is warmer than any resort. The hotel is more than half empty so it was really nice and quiet. Too bad they still allow smoking outside but since there was only two people smoking, it wasn’t disruptive too much as long as they went far away. The on-site restaurant was shut down due to lack of guests and business which was too bad. The restaurants in the area are not very good because they did not have full stock of food on the menu and ran out of hamburger, and did not have ceviche. Papa Hog’s shuts down early and is not available for dinner, nor have a large menu so we had to go downtown to find what we wanted - the other restaurants in the area are either over priced or not the greatest. The rooms are clean but outdated with orange decor, a broken screen on the patio door, and the bed mattress needs a mattress topper or memory foam because it is very hard, springy, bouncy and uncomfortable. This place is okay but needs a few upgrades including to upgrade their water purification/ filtration system. They advertise a full size fridge, but it’s really a mini fridge. All the photos online are bunched together and need to be specific for the room type. The price and location was right but management needs to put more effort into upgrading this place.

Great relaxing holiday

My wife and I were at the Villablanca for 4 weeks in January. The Rooms were very clean and comfortable bed. The grounds are well manicured and not very busy as most guests are divers and are out for the day. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the island. Location is great away from down town but only a 100 Peso taxi to the action.

Amazing staff and great location

The staff at Hotel Villablanca went above and beyond! Unfortunately, I was in a scooter accident and the team at Hotel Villablanca could not have been more helpful. Sergio went to the hospital to check on me, and to ask if I needed anything from my hotel room. He returned at 9 am to help me get discharged and pay for my taxi ride back to the hotel . Yara at the front desk arranged for Mario to pick up my medications at a nearby pharmacy. She also gave me this fantastic skin balm to help with all my abrasions. The hotel is located across from Villa Blanca Reef and near great restaurants and beach clubs. I really like Playa Caletitas and the beach in front of Sunset Bar and Grill. I recommend getting a Superior room over a Standard room. The superior room is much more spacious and you will have great garden views and a partial ocean view. My room was very clean and roomy with lots of storage. The pool is very nice and the grounds are meticulously maintained. I am so grateful for the team at Hotel Villablanca and their hospitality. i will always stay at Hotel Villablanca every time I go to Cozumel. 10 out of 10.

A Very Nice Quiet Smaller Older Resort

It's a beautiful older resort with really nice garden like grounds. It's right off of the main road, but it seems a little more private than other resorts on the main road. The staff is great and the property is well maintained. The location is good with a couple restaurants, dive shops and smaller convenient stores all close by. You can walk a little bit further to the two cruise ship terminals for more dinning and shopping options, but will need a taxi or other transportation to get into town. I had a superior room which I recommend getting. The bed was comfortable and the rooms are older, but were high end back in the day so they are still pretty good. A full size refrigerator was a nice surprise. My only complaint that is they took my booking in USD and converted it into Peso's at a bad rate (10% less than the current rate) and sent it to my credit card company which converted it back to USD at 10% more than my booking amount. 10% isn't a big deal at $50 or $100, but at $500 or $1000 it hurts a little more. This does happens in Mexico (the rental car company did the same, but only at 5%) and they did post their exchange rate, but I didn't realize at the time what meant until I saw the Visa bill. Be aware and prepared for this and try not to get caught in this trap.
