You won't be surprised to learn that Florida is very busy all year round. That's why we strongly recommend that you book your holiday well in advance, especially if you want to go during the February, Easter, Summer or Christmas/New Year holidays, as these are all high season in Florida. If possible, we recommend that you go during the May or October holidays.
Although February is in the depths of winter, the temperatures are still much warmer and drier than back home. The average temperature is 16°C during the day, dropping to 9°C at night. February sees around eight hours of sunshine a day and only 60 mm of rainfall.
Easter holidays take place in March or April, depending on the date of Easter Sunday. March is the first month of spring in Florida. It is accompanied by warmer temperatures than previous months. The average temperature reaches 20 degrees during the day and 13 degrees at night. March has an average of eight hours of sunshine a day and is one of the driest months of the year, with only 64 mm of rainfall.
In April, temperatures rise to an average of 22°C during the day and 16°C at night. April remains a relatively dry month, with just 81 mm of rainfall spread over an average of seven days. With 10 hours of sunshine a day, April is one of the sunniest months of the year.
It is in May that we begin to see a significant rise in temperatures, with the daily average reaching 25 °C, although temperatures of up to 35 °C have also been recorded. Although May is one of the hottest and sunniest months of the year, with nine hours of glorious sunshine a day, it is also one of the wettest, with around 173mm of rainfall throughout the year.
With average daytime temperatures reaching an impressive 33°C, July and August are the two hottest months of the year in Florida. Both July and August enjoy nine hours of sunshine a day. Despite the heat, heavy rainfall is to be expected during this period. July records 155 mm of rainfall over 15 days, while August averages 160 mm over 15 days, making it one of the wettest and hottest months of the year. September is the last official month of the summer season in Florida, but that doesn't mean the weather is any less impressive. The high afternoon temperatures drop slightly compared to previous months, reaching as high as 32°C. However, average temperatures remain pleasant at 28°C for the rest of the day and 22°C at night. September saw eight hours of sunshine a day and 203 mm of rainfall spread over 18 days.
The weather in October remains respectably warm, with temperatures averaging 24°C during the day and 18°C at night. You can expect eight hours of sunshine a day, but be aware that October is an extremely wet month, with an average of 234 mm of rainfall spread over 16 days.

December also enjoys seven hours of sunshine a day and is the driest month in Florida, with just 51 mm of rainfall. January is colder than the previous month, but still warm by British standards. The average temperature in January is 16 degrees during the day and 9 degrees at night. January has seven hours of sunshine a day and remains relatively dry, with only 77 mm of precipitation.
