Poor to Nonexistent Service

If you are accustomed to hotels/resorts with good service, you should look elsewhere. I have traveled extensively to hotels of all levels around the world and never encountered such poor to non-existent service. The staff were rude and milling about totally uninterested in helping guests. I carried my own bags to the room. There is no service on the beach or the pool, despite advertising that there is. There are plenty of staff present and it’s clearly their job to tend to guests. However, on the beach we were told it would be easier to just go get our own drinks at the hotel bar. We were also told to get our own towels. Then, they ran out of towels. Disappointing. Even worse, when we approached the pool bar to ask for a drink we were ignored. The simple task of getting one drink took at least 30 min and two staff members. No smiles. I watched 3 verbal altercations between staff over 3 days. I saw umbrellas fly towards guests and no one moved to help. I cannot comment on lunch as we fled to the Ritz daily for decent service. Dinner at The Palms was disappointing as our waitress was clearly overwhelmed repeating self help mantras over our table for two. Again, no smiles. The food was fine but nothing great and very expensive. Breakfast was fine and included. There were managers occasionally checking in but they didn’t seem to be able to convince their staff to work. This hotel does not serve alcohol before lunchtime. It is extremely quiet. We asked for a mimosa at breakfast and they accommodated us but we were the only guests drinking. The bars were empty day and night. You should look elsewhere if you’re looking for a vacation vibe. This is a boutique hotel with guests quietly reading. We took a short trip to their sister property, Shore Club, which was even more disappointing. It was completely silent with more indifferent staff and empty restaurants and bars. The staff did follow us around to remind us not to sit at their tiny pool or eroded beach. Fine. When we asked to leave they couldn’t get us a taxi out. The airport transport TCI Espcapes was an hour late with no apologies. Then, and they left one of our bags at at another resort. Again, no apologies or sense of urgency whatsoever. The drivers were rude, texting, calling and handling paperwork while driving. I sat in the front seat on top of my suitcase. The airport is small and chaotic. The resorts are not gated which is nice until people clearly on drugs start approaching on the beach to sell you things. When I say drugs, I don’t mean marijuana. Same for some of the male resort staff who were clearly high. Are these problems recent and a result of the US Government’s new Travel Advisory? Perhaps. Did I complain on site? No, because I was nervous to do so with staff who seemed so very unhappy and was concerned about retaliation. Overall, I urge you to consider a different vacation destination for your money. I won’t be returning.

Amazing stay!

My boyfriend and I loved our stay at the palms. The rooms were extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed at the beach for basically the entire trip and it was gorgeous. We would absolutely come back. I saw some reviews saying it was outdated but I completely disagree. This hotel has the boutique charm we were looking for

Beautiful hotel, terrible service

We found this given the feature in Condé Nast. The hotel and rooms were beautiful as was the pool and beach. The major disappointment was the service. For a hotel at this price, it should be much better. Examples, check in was chaotic and long. Breakfast service most people working were standing around talking and totally inattentive and uninterested in helping guests. Hard to get support at front desk for taxi (which were widely varying in price). I have traveled the world and this is the worst experience I’ve had with service and not sure I’d recommend. We are self sufficient people. They just seemed like they were not interested in providing basic services and it was noticeable by several guests. The manager walked around multiple times trying to address concerns but it told you how prevalent it was. It was almost like they viewed guest as imposing on them versus spending a lot of money to enjoy their beautiful country.

We just returned from a five-day stay at The Palms Resort in Turks and Caicos, and I have to say—the entire staff was amazing. Every interaction was warm, professional, and made us feel truly welcomed. That said, two individuals stood out and left a lasting impression: Jane, the breakfast concierge, and Aston, the maintenance manager. Jane brought such grace and attentiveness to each morning. Even without direct requests, she ensured guests were comfortable and happy—always with a genuine smile and a kind word. Aston impressed me with the quiet excellence in how the property was maintained. Everything was pristine and running smoothly, a true reflection of the pride he takes in his work. You could sense the care behind the scenes, and it elevated the entire experience. Jane and Aston were the most memorable part of an already outstanding stay. We’ll absolutely be back, and we’ll be looking forward to seeing them again. Excellent family friendly vacation spot
