True 5 Star Resort with Amazing Rooms and Staff

We visited Corfu in August 2024 and originally booked another hotel on the island that was marketed as a “5 star hotel” and was part of Amex’s Fine Hotel and Resorts program. When we checked in late the first night, we were shocked by the poor quality of the hotel which at best should be a 3 star hotel and were disappointed because the FHR program hasn’t let us down like this in the past The next morning we booked an Ionian Suite at the Olivar Suites and spent 3 nights there. What a difference! The staff went out of their way to salvage our trip. The Olivar is a beautiful property with absolutely gorgeous suites. The pool and beach is beautiful and perfect for both couples traveling alone and families. This is truly a 5 star resort and we enjoyed our stay at the Olivar as much as our time in Athens at the Four Seasons. We also ate at the restaurant Flya for dinner on two nights and thought the food was outstanding and worthy of the reputation it has. All in all we loved the Olivar, are thankful we were able to book last minute and we will definitely be back. If you are debating staying at the Olivar stop thinking and just book it! You won’t regret it!

A 5 star experience in a beautiful hotel

This was a great experience in a new, well thought out complex of studios. We had a Junior Suite with pool. It was roomy, very stylish with big shower, twin basins, really comfy bed, plenty of coffee, herbal tea options. Big glass bottle of water delivered daily. The pool was an absolute godsend, just the right temperature to be refreshing but not cold. Comfy sun loungers as well. Breakfast was a fancy affair, the hot options were prepared once ordered so fresh. Some odd choices, the banana and peanut butter omelette wasn't my bag, but plenty of delicious alternatives to be had. Beach sunbeds were plentiful and we appreciated the iced water and iced face cloths! Take beach shoes as pebbles on the way in to sea are vicious! We are not used to the 5 star way of things, and found the constant interruption by maids etc to clean the room (fair enough), then another to bring water, then another to clean the pool or mow the grass( just appearing in the garden with no notice), then the maid bringing our daily nougat sweets. Could it not all have been done in one go? Felt a little like big brother was watching us. Our rainfall shower (room 112) was spurting in all directions but we kept forgetting to ask to get it fixed! Be very aware as well, that the smooth tiles on the floor of the bedroom are extremely slippery if you step on it with wet feet, my husband went flying and bruised his arm. We didn't eat in the restaurant as the food didn't suit us and it was very expensive, instead we ate most evenings in the local tavernas, our favourite being the family run Korali Bar. Trips included an evening return boat trip to Corfu. This was great, but take mosquito spray as they are vicious when waiting to board the return boat!

We have just returned from our second visit to the hotel and once again we had a fabulous holiday. While the room, hotel set up and beach are fantastic it is the staff at the hotel who make it a real 5 star experience. All members of staff go out of their to make sure your holiday is the best it can be. Breakfast was fab and we enjoyed meals in many of the local tavernas as well as following the advice from hotel staff and visiting 4 restaurants further a field. Thank you to the hotel for our birthday and anniversary celebrations.

Relaxing spa

The oils and fragrances gave a delicious and relaxing smell. The ambient was very calming, lighting and temperature were perfect. We had a relaxing couples massage and enjoyed it throughly. Very professional team (Giota and Nekita). We cant recommend enough

A hidden gem !

We had a suite with own pool ,garden along with entrance direct onto the beach where you had your own dedicated cabana. The room was fantastic with two bathrooms, showers and bath. What more do you want!! Never used the massive swimming pool or sun beds as really didn’t need to but always looked like there was loads of space etc. The breakfast was good and eating at their restaurant is well worth it even though it wasn’t cheap. The hotel is in a great position for walking to other tavernas and bars which are all very close. Would recommend Kostas taverna , village taverna Marilena,delicious cafe for brunch and the Rose garden. This is a great hotel and a must visit when visiting Corfu. We will be back!!!
