The Haven Khao Lak Resort - Adults Only

Nice place. A little bit in need of maintenance, but a nice place to be. Quiet. The food was great and the price could not be beat! The housekeeping service could have been a little better and sometimes it took a bit to get seen at the venue (I believe everyone there is not on a time schedule which is more of a Western construct).

Nice quiet location far enough from the town to be peaceful but close enough to get there and enjoy the markets, bars, restaurants etc. There isn't much to do in the hotel at night ( a few nights at the restaurant are themed and there was a singer there). Its more somewhere to relax with a drink and maybe play pool but mostly I think everyone had gone to bed by 10pm. The hotel is right on the beach and the pool was lovely. Always able to get a sunbed. The beach was so quiet, the water warm and the sand clean. We had a swim up room. You can't just slide into the pool off the side. You must use the steps and they are quite tricky if you have any strength or mobility challenges. Likewise the rest of the hotel. You can't access the pool area or restaurants without having to climb steps / walk over a steep wooden bridge. One wheelchair user guest had to be carried everywhere, so if you use a wheelchair or walking aid this might not be the hotel for you. The staff were lovely. Very friendly and eager to please. I didn't encounter one rude or bored looking person in 2 weeks! The room was kept lovely and clean as were the communal areas and gardens. Reception staff are happy to provide info about local sites and amenities. You can order a taxi from outside the hotel. The open backed ones with the lights and music were really fun! Food was fine but after a while it did feel a bit repetitive. If we went again I don't think we would go all inclusive. There were a handful of little restaurants a short walk down the track and many of guests from our hotel went there. These eateries were very cheap and the food and drink was fine. Travelling in November I was concerned about the weather, but it was fine. Only 2 heavy showers, one in the late afternoon and one in the evening but they passed pretty quickly and it was still hot. There was distant thunder several times but it never came close to where we were. Maybe it was out at sea?! Mosquitos were abundant! Tried various sprays and creams but nothing seemed to work. I'd recommend this hotel for a relaxing break. Probably for couples as its so quiet.

I write this from my sunbed at the Haven having had an amazing experience here. We decided to get married in Thailand and originally wanted Koh Samui, however circumstances changed and we decided on Khao Lak. This was fairly stressful as we had visited KS but not KL. We did lots of research as we were pretty clear on the vision for our wedding; simple beach wedding. From the first conversation, Panda our wedding coordinator, has been fantastic. Communication via WhatsApp was so fast and with the right level of detail. She has been so helpful as things have changed; guest number etc and nothing has been any trouble at all. The day itself ran so smoothly. It helped that the weather was perfect, warm but with a breeze. We could see the team preparing the area for the wedding and also for the reception afterwards and all was exactly as discussed and described. The celebrant was wonderful, we couldn’t have been happier and although we haven’t seen the results yet, we are confident that the photographer engaged by the hotel has done a great job. After the ceremony we moved to our private party area on the smaller pool deck where our guests enjoyed an amazing Thai buffet and drinks. We didn’t have a DJ but created a party playlist on Spotify which worked perfectly. Jorm and the food and beverage team were excellent, truly outstanding. No one went hungry or thirsty ;-) If you are considering the Haven for your wedding I wholeheartedly recommend them. Our day was beyond perfect and we cannot thank everyone enough. X

Stayed here for 10 nights beginning of April. Hotel Spotless and the staff genuinely can not do enough for you. We were on first floor and room is a good size, double bed, 2 seater sofa, arm chair and a desk with chair. These were cleaned every day, towels left for you too. Koi carp in a pool where you eat breakfast that you can feed if you wish, reception provide the food for you, no feeding after 2pm.. No rush for sunbeds in the morning, we found a lot of people stuck to thier swim up rooms or were on day trips.. Slightly disappointed with the two pool bars for water and drinks as they didnt open until 11am for service, we felt it was a little on the late side, especially with 34° heat. Premuim brands or international brands, such smirnoff, jim beam and gordons were chargable and excluded from the all inclusive. William and Dear worked the main Angel wings bar and were great. Bar opens at 2pm and shuts at 11pm with last orders at 1030, which wasnt an issue for us, some nights we got drinks just before 11 and chatted to others we met. The hotel itself is quite isolated with regards to location and means its a  taxi to bang niang market and shops as its too long to walk. Hotel offers shuttle service twice a day i believe but we chose to stick with a local taxi driver for our stay.. There is a small row of 3 resturants and a mini mart about 8 mins walk with thai massages available... highly recommended Food We thought the breakfast was slightly above average, theres an egg station that does standard poached, fried, and omelletes aswell as speciality ones such as eggs benidict, the egg station was busy also the usual fruit, yogurts, waffles and pancakes (always cold).. They did have gluten free bread on request. Lunch and evening meal in the main restaurant was a totally different experiance, it was amazing and probally one of the best weve had.. You choose from the menu, everything more or less was adapable to cater for gluten free, it was a coelliac dream. We brought gluten free bread rolls and chef would take these and make Club sandwiches. Theres, pasta, thai dishes, rice dishes, soups, all GF as well as your steaks, fish salads etc They were very under standing about cross contamination, stating day 1 chips were a shared fryer. The place is open 11am til 11 pm which is great... Only negetive was some times we had waited 25-30 mins for drinks. We booked tours before we arrived with Ku Khaolak via his facepage after recommendations. We werent disappointed he was brilliant, we done elephant sanctuary in khao sok national park, including lunch, bamboo rafting and monkey temple. We also booked james bond island, including long boat, sea canoes, floating village for lunch, monkeys with a sacred temple where we got blessed by a monk.  Both trips were exellent days and value for money. We would 100% recommend this hotel, its ideal for relaxing and chilling with the options of the bars a taxi drive away if you wish, we also went to memories beach bar one night for the fire show which was good

The Haven has several things that make it an ideal holiday destination - 1) It is quiet and peaceful 2) There is so many pools. Finding a spot to yourself is easy 3) No kids under 12- the noise levels were really low! 4) The accommodation was more than adequate All that aside - what made the holiday? The staff! From the friendly reception desk staff to the restaurant staff to the Aquaspa staff - everyone that worked there really went out of their way to assist us in getting the most out of our vacation. My 8 massages were nothing short of heavenly! The staff at breakfast were wonderful. I can recommend the omelettes and the rotis filled with egg or corn/ cheese. So beautifully cooked fresh for us each day.And I should not forget the ladies who prepared our lattes every morning. Returning to the Haven again will be an absolute pleasure
