Taj Exotica Resort and Spa South Male Atoll

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property which is a short speedboat ride from Male. We were promptly welcomed by Taj staff at the airport and taken to the resort, where we were introduced to our host Nadeem, who gave us a tour of the resort. He was an exceptional host who was always available for our queries and made sure all our requests were met. The housekeeping staff were excellent and cleaned our rooms twice daily, keeping them immaculate. They also arranged a surprise cake and decorations as well as a rose petal bath for my special birthday, which was a very thoughtful gesture. We stayed in the deluxe lagoon villa which is in a beautiful part of the resort where we enjoyed many moonlit walks. We could get directly into the lagoon to swim & snorkel. Staff were also on hand to help us learn how to use the snorkelling kit. We also did a snorkelling excursion with Audha, who was amazing. Despite the water being a bit choppy she gave us confidence to go snorkelling in the coral reefs and took some lovely videos for us. The only thing we wished we knew beforehand was that they have special snorkelling masks for people with shortsightedness, which would have been useful for us. The food in all the restaurants were excellent in quality and taste. They also have a nice selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Staff in the 24 degrees restaurant seemed a bit overwhelmed and unsure of their job. We had issues with delays in food being served and sometimes the wrong food being served, both during breakfast and dinner. This is something we were disappointed with, and unexpected at a Taj restaurant. However the ambience and staff at Mediterraneo made up for this. They were always looking after our needs and seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. Special mention goes to Joy and Bilaal, who were both fantastic. On our last day we were given a lovely goodbye as we left this amazing place. Nadeem also arranged a tour guide to take us around Male, who was also very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Overall, except for the issues in one of the restaurants, we had a magical and memorable stay at the Taj exotica.

We have rated this amongst our top 5 holidays of all time, and that includes competition from the best resorts in Mauritius, Goa, New York, London, Mumbai, Kolkata, Sri Lanka and Australia! Taj has now become our go-to brand for hotels and resorts. The hospitality was of course impeccable. We had a dedicated host Aadam, who was available 24/7 to facilitate any of our needs, from room service to watersports. The restaurants offered service that would make Michelin starred restaurants envy, with perfect service provided Riyaz, Raja, Irfan, Shahjahan and Ekta providing the perfect service - always available yet not intrusive. The cuisine was authentic. Mimi from the dive centre took us for our own personalised tour of shark viewing and coral reef exploration. We had our own boat captain Iman who ensured we had everything available from towels and snorkel masks to chilled water. Matt in the dive centre ensured all of 41 videos totalling 1.4 Gb were transferred to our phone! Shahbaz and his team of buggy riders ensured we got to where we needed to go anytime! Awesome guys, keep it up!

We had a wonderful time staying in a water villa! It was cleaned and tidied up very thoroughly twice a day. Throughout the entire stay, you have a personal assistant – also called a butler – who is available 24/7 and does everything possible to make your stay perfect. In our case, it was Adam, who was truly amazing! The à la carte restaurants offer a wide variety of high-quality dishes ranging from Indian and Japanese cuisine – including some sensational sushi – to European specialties. There really is something for everyone! The cocktail menu also leaves nothing to be desired. If you enjoy a drink or two, I can highly recommend booking all-inclusive, as alcohol is quite expensive in the Maldives. The all-inclusive package gives you access to the entire selection (no cheap alcohol!). We also had extremely positive experiences with the local staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful! We grew especially fond of Bilal, who took wonderful care of us every single day. It’s really nice when, beyond just taking your order, you can have great conversations and feel that someone genuinely likes you and shows real interest. Bilal and Haikaal truly understand what hospitality means – you can tell they both love what they do and are hosts at heart! If you don’t feel like walking much during your vacation, golf cart drivers are available all day until 11 p.m., free of charge, to take you anywhere on the island. All in all, we had a beautiful time during our honeymoon and would absolutely visit the same island and the same resort again. Thank you for this amazing experience and unforgettable time!
