For the positives the view is great, and location lovely. The room is very basic with limited amenities I.e., very little space to hang clothes or umbrellas for the rain and walk between the different hotel locations. The lift is ok but limited on capacity otherwise you need to call for a ride each time. The internet is poor or not working so I would recommend not relying on it. The room has a musty smell, and there is a deep humm not from the AC making sleeping difficult it must be a building issue as it comes from the walls. The food is ok but service was slow and the pool area messy with rubbish from other guests. We have experienced a more luxury and comfortable experience at hotels for a lower price. We’ve not experienced that you get what you pay for at this hotel/resort.

Thailand at its' best!

The hotel is partly embedded in the rainforest, contain everything you need for a relaxed vacation in the tropics. Food is perhaps a bit pricey, but consistently very fresh and tasty. Infinity pool and area is nice, beach clean, water is great. Staff were super friendly and always tried to help and service us. Our room was clean and comfy. Beds a bit hard, but good for me. Hotel area is hilly, and a bit separated from the nearby villige, so recommended to rent a scooter (150 cc). Not for a beginner though, as some roads are very steep. We kept the scooter the full visit which was great. In the hotel area, there is a small tram to take you to up and down of the hill, but one can also call for a golf buggy and you will get help. We used our scooter; more fun. Breakfast contained western and asian dishes; all very good. I got my omelette done by a super friendly cook every morning. Coffee machine broke done several times, so an upgrade there would be needed. Free towels, as many as you want was an appreciated service. Since this is a hotel in the rainforest, we had monkeys on our balcony several times. The staff encouraged us to lock the balcony doors which is a must. We forgot one night and woke up with a monkey in our room eating our bananas in the fruitbasket! If I get the chance, I will go back again, loved it. :-)

Great boast, small roast

I had great expectations from this resort, but this proved to be a dud! Reasons: Restaurant: It's double the price and nothing special. Even the portions are small. There are many, waaaay better and still less expensive options in the Kai bae market. Breakfast: if you're a non vegetarian you might be satisfied but very limited options for a vegetarian. On one of the 3 days that we stayed there were 2 out of 12 fresh dishes that were vegetarian (steamed rice and grilled tomatoes). Normally 3! Kids club - we wondered why it was locked and not a single kid was there. Finally when we got it opened, we got to know the reason.. it's pathetic and not maintained properly. Shuttle service - even though the kai bae market is not even 2kms away, The resort provides the shuttle just 3 times a day that too at a very odd timings - 10am, 1pm and 4pm. The walk to the market is not easy and the "taxi" charges 50thb per person. And the price increases after 10pm. Staff: The staff at the reception is quite good. However, the 'higher' ones are something that I've never seen. For example: A) when we had our only dinner at the restaurant we saw many reserved tables (really??) and there was a fire show, we asked the hotel manager to give us one of the 2-3 "unreserved" tables, he said for "that" table, you need to make sure that your bill will be 1000 THB at least. Hello??? B) there was some problem with the air con of our room and it was never diagnosed properly. We really suffered from it. On the 3rd night I had to spend 30 mins to prove them that there is actually some problem with one of the ACs and then also they said no room is empty so we can provide a fan! Seriously???? Finally, within few minutes, the second AC also stopped working and then only we were shifted to two interconnected rooms from family room! Additional facility: None. No pickup or drop service to any pier included in stay. You've to pay for kayaks - 200thb/hour What's good: The pools and the beach were very good. The greenery maintained in the hotel premises is exceptional. And funicular is one of its kind (though, you end up wasting a lot of time in waiting for it to go up and down). I stayed at Radisson in Phu quoc last year and I paid 60% of the amount of what I paid here. If I compare it with Sylvan on these points, I really feel cheated! Overall, I'll never come back here again and I'll make sure none of my acquaintance ever come to stay in this resort again.
