2 night stay at susona

31 Oct 2024
Amazing stay at susona. It was my 25th birthday and they made sure I had something special for me in the room which was excellent. To top it off they upgraded us to a junior suite with pool which one of only a few upgrades we have got so we are very grateful. Highly recommend

A Hidden Gem of Tranquility and Elegance

30 Jun 2024
Nestled along the Aegean coast, Susona Bodrum by LXR Hotels & Resorts redefines luxury with a perfect blend of natural beauty and refined elegance. I visited this resort expecting high standards, and it certainly surpassed them, offering an experience that feels both exclusive and deeply connected to the serene landscape around it. Rooms: The rooms and suites at Susona feel like private sanctuaries. Mine offered panoramic sea views, and the interior was crafted with modern touches and warm textures that reflect the coastal surroundings. The room was thoughtfully designed for relaxation, with a spacious layout, plush bedding, and high-quality amenities. I particularly appreciated the large, private terrace — a perfect spot for sunrise coffee or sunset reflections. Service: The staff at Susona Bodrum truly excel in hospitality. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive but unobtrusive service throughout my stay, every interaction felt genuine. The concierge team, always ready with local insights, went above and beyond to ensure my experience was personalized and memorable. They even surprised me with a beautifully crafted welcome amenity, which felt like a true VIP treatment. Dining: Dining at Susona is a journey in itself. The Malva Restaurant offered an exceptional culinary experience with dishes inspired by the rich flavors of Turkey. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, and paired with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. I also enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at Frankie Beach Club, where the beachside setting added an extra layer of charm to the delightful Mediterranean-inspired dishes and refreshing cocktails. Amenities: The resort’s amenities are thoughtfully curated to provide both relaxation and a touch of adventure. The spa, a peaceful oasis, delivered one of the best massages I’ve experienced, using locally inspired treatments that complemented the tranquil surroundings. The infinity pool overlooking the sea offered a picturesque retreat, and for those looking to explore, the resort provides easy access to water sports and local excursions. Conclusion: Susona Bodrum is ideal for travelers seeking an indulgent, serene escape with an authentic touch of Turkish culture. This resort caters effortlessly to couples, solo travelers, and anyone looking to unwind in an intimate, beautiful setting. It’s a place that promises luxury without pretension, and I would return without hesitation. Recommendation: Perfect for luxury seekers, couples, and anyone who appreciates both natural beauty and sophisticated elegance.

Nice grounds but disappointing service

31 Oct 2024
Overall: We booked this trip as our last stop on our Türkiye trip and this was our second time trying the LXR brand. The hotel grounds are vast and well kept. The dining is high quality. While we had a good time relaxing at the hotel, we felt high F&B prices and service level didn't match what I would expect from a 5 star resort. Grounds: This property is very expansive for the number of rooms. All the paths, greenery and spaces were well kept. There are 5 water areas - the family area, the 3 piers, and Frankie beach club. In shoulder season, we found that Frankie beach club the best to swim in the day as it is warmer, less waves, and more fish - although we did try all the piers and found them all swimmable. Neither the pool at Frankie or the infinity pool are temperature controlled, so it gets quite cold and we didn't see any body use them. The gym was pleasant surprise - it's spacious and has a squat rack, bench, free weights and has an outdoor deadlift/calisthenics area. This is not an afterthought gym like many resorts - it's property stocked with strength training equipment and not just treadmills. We got a Hamman treatment at the spa and the service was pleasant - plus it was connected to the gym. Dining: The dining on property is great, although priced aggressively (think WA pricing - the burger for example costs $42 USD with serice, pizza was $34 USD, ). The u-shaped fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, all pastas cooked Al Dente, sauces were favorable, pizza was nice and crispy and everything properly seasoned. We found the breakfast service to be very quick and ofcourse the selection and preparation were all top notch. However, they do not provide a portable table for room service - so if you don't get a suite (the normal rooms don't have a dining table) you basically have to eat your food on your nightstand. Also would be useful to give the customer the food dome so it doesn't get cold, which was an issue when ordering remotely any of the 5 piers (which you can do digitally). Noise: After reading reviews mentioning noise due to the neighboring properties, we contacted the hotel ahead of time to see if we could arrange the have a less noisy room which was noted and we were given a South-West facing room. This is NOT a super quiet room - rather - you want a North-West facing room. Keep in mind we checked in on a random Tuesday and out on Friday in shoulder season. On the first night there was a loud party from a boat right outside our room starting at around 10pm. We notified the hotel, who told us nothing could be done and that legally they were allowed to play music until 1am - so we slept with earplugs. The next day, we asked if we could be moved. We were again told that nothing could be done since this "party boat" was unexpected, we were already given "one of the quietest rooms" - and that we should contact the FD if we heard noise again and they would check if there were rooms available at the time and we would be allowed to sleep in that room if there were suitable rooms found. Honestly, I should have pushed back here but I think this is ridiculous given the partying starts at 10pm - so you have to call the FD at earliest at 10pm to see if you can move rooms??!! This really felt like the management was just trying to be right, rather than make things right with the guest. Ofcourse, there was no follow-up from management regarding this issue, nor any attempt at service recovery - which would be expected at a 5-star hotel level. Unfortunately, the Double-Tree next door played obnoxiously (which the hotel management MUST have known about since its next door!) loud music on our last night (a randomly Thursday night) and we didn't feel like complaining and having to move at 10:30 so again we slept with earplugs. I walked a few laps around the property and found north-west facing rooms to be far quieter (the East side of the hotel there were some reception going outside one of the rooms and one of the hotels next door also blasting EDM). Loyalty stuff: We made our booking via Hilton for Luxury/Impresario as a Diamond member. This was acknowledged upon check-in and points/credits were all property taken care of. While better (the jr and 1bd suites) rooms were available for the entire duration of the stay at check-in we were told that we could not be upgraded beyond our initial 1 category upgrade. The welcome gift consisted of 3 fruits and 2 bottles of water - so it seems like the property is basically doing the bare minimum on the loyalty end without breaking any rules with corporate.

Beautiful and amazing service

30 Sep 2024
Just finished up a 4 night stay at this beautiful hotel. Here are my thoughts: Rooms: our first room was a bit dirty and dated with cracked sinks and mold. On our second day the manager came around to ask how things were and I mentioned these issues to her. Within hours we were upgraded to a beautiful suite with a kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, and a larger private pool than what I had booked. The second room was absolutely stunning and I have no complaints. Service: every single person at this resort is amazing. They all go above and beyond and I can't think of a single issue with service. Food: there are limited options for room service and restaurant dining, at least for people who eat mostly vegan like me. Since there aren't restaurants in the area we struggled a bit in this area. Location: I can't say enough about how beautiful this hotel is. It's located about 15-20 minutes from the main area with restaurants, etc. but it's worth the trek because it's quiet and perfect and so relaxing. Prices: this resort is not cheap but it's definitely worth the splurge. September is a quiet month so prices are definitely better than summer months. I doubt we'll get to Bodrum again but if we do I wouldn't hesitate to stay here!
