From the moment we landed in Male we felt we were given exceptional customer service and were able to make the most of the excellent facilities provided by Sun Siyam and their staff, and incredible natural beauty of the island of Iru Fushi. The transfer by seaplane was managed excellently by Sun Siyam and we arrived at Iru Fushi to be met with a lovely welcome by the staff waiting for us to disembark the plane. We stayed in a Deluxe Beach Villa (210) and found it to be very spacious and comfortable and equipped with all the facilities we would need (TV, music, shower/outdoor shower, generous hot tub etc). We had good privacy at the rear of the villa with our own private access to our own cabana and then onwards to the beach itself. The sea and beach were fantastic, being very quiet and incredibly clean. We had our own sunbeds at our entrance to the beach and so spent most of our time there during the day - when not snorkeling at the house reef or swimming in the sea. Our villa was perfect and was very well cleaned each day. The maid was very thorough and took great care with leaf and towel bed displays each day (a nice touch which showed their commitment to their job and the quality of your all-round experience). The mini bar was well stocked and was refilled each day if used. We took a guided tour of the two different water villa types for future reference, but would definitely not swap a beach villa for a water villa in future. The beach villa is much more spacious, more private and represents much better value - trust me! We were all inclusive at SSIF and I am glad we were. We enjoyed meals at Bamboo (Asian), Taste of India, Trio (Italian) and Flavours (French) a la carte restaurants where the chefs and staff were all excellent. Special mention to Flavours, which was particularly good, where we enjoyed a superb Filet Mignon at a table in the Wine Cellar area of the restaurant. The food there was outstanding. Trio was also very good food and was a particularly pleasant setting sitting on a large veranda overlooking the beautiful sunset across the Indian Ocean. The main 'Iru' buffet restaurant was also very good with a huge range of food types and dishes on offer each breakfast, lunch and dinner time. The food quality there was very good, very fresh and had certainly been made and presented with great care and attention to detail. We booked up and enjoyed several excursions during our stay and found them to be very enjoyable and good value. These included an evening fishing trip (hand lining) where all guest caught fish or various types and sizes (up to 2-3kg), an island sunset trip (around the island) to get a good offshore view of the typically beautiful Indian Ocean sunset, and one of the early morning snorkeling safaris on offer. The snorkeling at Iru Fushi was fantastic with an incredible number of fish species being present on the house reef. It was our first time in the Maldives and we were blown away by the snorkeling and the marine life in general (2 types of turtles, two types sharks (up to 6/7ft (safe!)), 2-3 types rays (big) and too many stunning fish species to ever count), but some guests did say they had been to better house reefs elsewhere in the Maldives. The evening entertainment was always good (live music and some local dancing) and never felt overbearing or tacky. The 'after dinner' evenings were always very enjoyable, and sitting, drinking cocktails and chatting in a warm and comfortable outdoor seating area was always a great way to end the day. Most people seemed to go to bed at around 10.30-11.00 and the nights were always very quiet with no noise pollution at all. We enjoyed a complimentary session in the spa during which we used the sauna and steam rooms and hot/cold plunge pools. My wife also had a massage (medium firm) which she said was excellent - but she did say she was glad she didn't opt for 'hard' firmness! There was a games room and gym at SSIF which both looked suitably equipped even though we didn't use them while there. (I fully intended to go to the gym (1 do at home 2/3 times a week) but must admit that intention soon subsided!) All the staff at Iru Fushi were genuinely exceptional (speaking as someone who has run a business for 30 years, employing +/-40 people) and were always very happy, polite, attentive and clearly committed to ensuring guests' time on the island is as good as it can possibly be. You really do feel they care about what you think about their performance, the resort and the island as a whole. The staff always speak and greet you warmly even if they have to break their mobile phone call to do so. The level of commitment given by the staff the guests and their jobs is incredible - with one head chef telling me he had a 4 month old son back in Sri Lanka he hadn't seen yet. That is a sad story to reflect on but it really does give a good insight into just how committed they are and how much their performance means to them. On Iru Fushi (and I dare say on other Maldivian islands) you are provided with your own 'butler' who guides you, gives you information/updates/itineraries and books you into restaurants and activities as you wish. I must give special mention to our outstanding butler for our stay, Lee. She was very friendly and attentive and really did help make our stay at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi the trip of a lifetime we hoped it would be. Lee was certainly worthy of 5* for the service she gave us during our stay. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, would definitely opt for all inclusive in a Deluxe Beach Villa and would choose to visit in February/March if at all possible. The only thing we would change next time would be to fly direct to Male rather than to stay 48hrs in Dubai each way, so we could have longer on the island itself (Dubai doesn't do it for us any longer)! Well done and a big thank you to all at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. 10/10!
