Sun Beach Resort Complex

We booked as a family of 4 and paid for the family room with garden or sea view. All inclusive for a short break of 5 days. Unfortunately we arrived during a storm which lasted for 2 days of our trip. We arrived late as our flight got in at 9pm and we got to the hotel for around 10pm. Check in was tricky as it's done via a QR code but the girl at the desk was very helpful. We got wrist bands to let staff identify our all inclusive status. We were told we had an upgrade to a sea view room which BTW was amazing! The garden view is of the carpark and local street where as the sea view is outstanding. However, it wasn't really an upgrade as we had paid extra for the option of sea or garden view. The room was perfect. We are a family of 4 (16y/o and 14y/o). The family suit opens into the living area where the two couches double as single beds, there is a small kitchenette and table to seat 4. We had a smart TV which ment we were able to watch netflix during the storm. However yoy have to ask for the separate Internet password to access this, it's not the same one your phone connects too. Upon arrival we were hungry as we had a full day of traveling. After taking the bags to the room we went down to ask if there was any hot food available to be told no, we found a local pizza restaurant and got take aways. I found this a bit disappointing as we were all inclusive. Our previous experience at other destinations was that some hot food was kept for late arrivals. But the pizza restaurant was only a short walk away so not too bad and the staff and owner were welcoming and very generous. The girl on the night desk could not be more helpful! In comparison to the girl on the day desk who didn't seem to know anything or be bothered to check for us. A few of our days were hindered as we were caught in a bad thunder storm with 40mph winds. This meant there was little we could do. We could not access the pools and wanted to know if we could use the indoor pool at another hotel we asked the girl on the day desk to help us but she told us just to call, the phone in the room wouldn't work so I had to use my mobile. Again on check out we had an hour or so between check out and pick up and asked if there was anywhere we could store our cases, she just said she didn't know if the luggage room was open and there was an awkward look exchange but no attempt to go and find out for us, so we kept the case with us. The food was good, always hot and some different options daily. The staff overall were lovely and helpful and always had a warm welcome for you. The drinks in the bar were very different to the drinks in the restaurant. A Coca-Cola for instance from the bar was flat and tasted weird, but a Coca-Cola from the restaurant was fresh and tasted normal. I was unable to taste alcohol in any of my drinks and found them hard to stomach so ended up not drinking alcohol. But my husband enjoyed his so maybe this was personal taste. I ordered the same drink/cocktail most of the time but each time it was made differently. The bar area was outside under a canvas roof which was drop random puddles which made it risky to sit there. When the storm cleared it was disappointing that the staff did not clean the pools or any of the seating areas, they did not pick up the furniture and unbarellas or beach loungers for 2 days. This meant despite the sun shining we were still unable to use the facilities. We did enjoy a swim in the sea though! And the day we were leaving was the day they tidied up. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, clean and modern. The views from the hotel are amazing and local transport is easy, close and reliable. The local area is deprovated and run down and you can't go for a nice walk along the beach as the hotel beach is the only nice part. We got the bus a few times into town to visit shops and the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes which is a must see.

Stayed here for a first foreign family holiday with our (then) 18 month old daughter. Right from the start the staff couldn't do enough for us, and they certainly doted on our toddler. We were put in a corner apartment with a huge balcony and amazing views out to Symi island and Turkey beyond. Evening meals on the balcony with the sun setting behind Symi were a fantastic way to end each day. Food in the restaurants was delicious and easily big enough, but there was plenty of choices nearby if you didn't want to stay in. Facilities and entertainment were excellent and we will definitely be returning.

Nice hotel and great location. We had only room reservation (not any meals) but we had breakfast and dinner one day. Both were good, but we didn't want to pay so much for the food at the hotel. Instead we had dinner nearby, there were a lot of nice restaurants and cafes. The water at the pools was freezing! The adults' infinity pool area was nice, but drinks at cardboard mugs, really? Was not very fancy experience to sip Pina Colada from brown coffee mugs! :D Also, sometimes the noice from planes flying over the hotel was a bit disturbing (and they were many at one night!).

Just spent a week here at Sunbeach Resort Rhodes. Pros: on the beach, 2 supermarkets on site, a wine shop, 10 min stroll to more shops/restaurants/bars. Most of the staff were nice. Cons: had to inform reception staff 3 times that we had A LOT of ants in our room just inside the veranda door crawling up the curtains and on the table. The third time we just demanded the bug spray ourselves. Food was ok but ALWAYS cold even food just brought out. Not sure if I’d stay again
