Wish we hadn’t read the negative reviews on this hotel… the paranoia of ‘sickness bugs’ tainted our excitement for the holiday. We got back yesterday evening from 7 nights here and had a brilliant time - honest review of how we found the place. Our point of view I guess we all have our quirks or bug bares lol We normally stay at 4 star family all inclusive hotels, if your used to anything above 4 star you maybe dissatisfied with Sherwood as I think they fall short of 5 star rating. So here goes.. We arrived to be given room key, up we go to the 2nd floor in the main building - scanned the key wouldn’t work. When a lady came and said this is our room. Back down we went to be given another key card for the annexe block, 8th floor (2804) Room was spacious - small pull out bed, double bed and a single bed (2 adults, 2 children) Balcony mid sized but brilliant sea view! Which I’m sure we didn’t pay for, so maybe upgraded ? 😄 *mosque down the alley way and over the road which woke us first couple of days with the call to prayer 5:20am ish* Bathroom needed a deep clean, TLC and in all honesty we should have complained more about the sink tap which was very loose. We told reception but nothing was done. The bathrooms bring the star ratings down on their own. We set to work wiping every touch surface down with anti bacterial wipes, such was our paranoia about the bug we had read about. Lobby, bars, dining areas all reasonable standard - lifts had broken glass which we had read about also. Never had to wait long for lifts in the annexe (block 2) building 🙂 Pools areas we couldn’t complain about really, umbrellas were a little worn and difficult to manoeuvre sometimes. However we found pool areas clean and tidy, few people would leave a mess but the lady came around a few times a day clearing up. Slides great fun for the kids! Pool depths we found great and gardens and well maintained. One pool near bar/kebabs/waffles all one depth which was nice for our lad who could just about stand (he’s 8 and only really getting good at swimming) Food we found really good. Not fussy eaters apart from our teenage daughter but she always found plenty to eat. Breakfasts we didn’t find too much but I think that’s just turkey in general. Chicken kebabs amazing!! Beach bar food really good Kids loved the pizzas by water park. Drinks - as lager drinkers this place is heaven bottles stocked up in fridges becks, efes, tuborg, carlsberg. Bottles of water instead of cartons we have once had at Turkish All in hotel. Cocktail menu good but we found on a couple of occasions staff didn’t know how to make their own cocktails - having to come look at menu boards or even saying sorry no. When we did get them sometimes they tasted different. No big deal really but service at times slow inside the bars, I don’t mind going getting own drinks - but sometimes told to wait for waiter/waitress which would take a while. So I think the service could sometimes be a little disappointing, aside from roller skating waiters which were great. House keeping we found a little frustrating. Not changing bedding, leaving 2/3 towels when taking 4 away (4 of us in room) so everyday we rang down for more. Left dirty towels sometimes when we had left them in the shower. Location we found great, the mall over the road was good for clothes etc. Clothes shop inside the hotel well priced We have previously stayed at aska lara and their clothes shop extortionate! Lots of cats at this hotel but they didn’t seem as aggressive as some cats we had seen in Turkey! Cat house and they collect money at the hotel for special cat food. Entertainment not to our liking I guess we enjoyed one night night (Madonna dance show) but we don’t like the arena style set up. Prefer the tables out door with the stage. Beach lovely, fridges and nearby beach bar. Daytime entertainment seemed to consist of aqua aerobics, volleyball or beach ball. Maybe good if they did more of the inflatable pool stuff etc Chaotic in restaurants at times but this is to be expected in August! The staff helped to seat us fairly quickly. We used hand sanitizer going into and coming out of restaurant but witnessed only one other person use this the whole week! Kids touching foods or prongs dropped and put back. Non English guests can be quite aggressive and abrupt, and very wasteful. We got the kids to make sure handwashing was good, used hand gel prior to eating with their hands. Sounds like I’m a germaphobe but didn’t want the kids to be poorly in particular. Non of us were ill or even felt ill all week! Would we go again? Absolutely if it wasn’t priced as a five star resort Thank you Sherwood for a lovely week 🇹🇷
