Sandals Halcyon Beach

We came here 8 years ago, enjoyed it despite big renovations being done without prior warning. This time the work seems to be finished but the rooms maybe now need a bit of an upgrade (does anyone like a foisty shower curtain?) The enthusiasm of the staff is variable. Literally from one to ten. Well done to the eight & aboves , I appreciate you immensely. Food is okay. Obviously drink is plentiful which can create its own problems with loud groups around bars, day & night. It would be nice if there was a quiet bar at night, maybe the beach bistro, for those of us who don’t want pounding hip hop whilst having a nightcap. Sorry for getting old & grouchy but my main hobby now is travel, so hopefully my voice counts for something

This was our first holiday at a Sandals resort and first visit to Saint Lucia. I was a little apprehensive having read some negative reviews however we need not have worried. We had a wonderful two weeks. Our room was comfortable and our cleaning lady, Laura, was excellent and regularly checked if we needed anything. The hotel gardens are beautiful and we really enjoyed the grounds and especially the lazy river. Overall the food was very good, over 2 weeks we had just 2 meals that were not so good (pizza truck - great first time, but poor on our second visit with different staff. We didn't bother again!) and a couple of service issues at Bayside. Staff generally are very helpful and friendly. My only areas for improvement would be to have an additional bar open in the evening for those who want to enjoy a quiet drink - perhaps at the beach / late night snack bar - and to provide more sunbeds especially on the beach / stop people reserving (La Toc limits sunbed reservations). In summary we had a lovely, relaxed holiday in beautiful surroundings and enjoyed the laid back and friendly atmosphere at Halcyon Beach.

Amazing great service from Kashia and shenelle!!!! They were so kind and helpful. We really appreciated it. The store had great goodies and fun art, as well as the necessities like sunscreen, water shoes, Diet Coke, local hot sauce, and towel clips.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and preferred The Halcyon over The Grande and La Toc. Having said this we loved the jetty at The Grande, a lovely place to sit and a similar jetty would be a great addition to The Halcyon. Our room was kept clean and tidy apart from past mosquito squashes on the ceilings, not a big deal but should have been cleaned off. The staff, whilst generally professional, but we felt their overall demeanour was up and down. We were particularly unhappy with our experience after booking the La Toc restaurant with the Club Lounge. I double checked with them on the men's clothing requirements and were told that smart shorts and shirt would be fine and men didn't need to wear trousers. So when we arrived, after a horrendous journey on the shuttle due to going across country because an accident near Castries, we were declined entry to the restaurant! Communication seems to be lacking across the resorts. The food at The Halcyon was ok, and whilst we didn't have a bad meal, we felt it lacked any 'wow' moments we would expect from a 5* resort. Unfortunately the food was a disappointment for us. Our favourite meal was Gordons at The Grande. The flies on the windows of Kelly's really spoilt the view and should be cleaned off daily! We loved the 'quiet' pool, the Lazy River and the grounds. However, Sandals need to address the issue of 'sunbed saving' at an ungodly hour of 5am onwards, this includes the Butlers as well as guests doing this. It is completely unnecessary and extremely annoying. An enjoyable, quiet and relaxing time spent here.

Wonderful resort! Everyone made our celebrations so special! Huge shout out to Vienna, Princess, and Shervon- The beaches, views, food and of course beverages were amazing!
