This hotel wasn't the 4* we were expecting and our experience when raising concerns was very disappointing, we wouldn't recommend Salmakis unfortunately. We booked as a group of six arriving late Sunday 6th October and our group was spread across 3 rooms. Our extremely dated room (510) was far from a 5star room or even 4* on Jet2, i would give it 2* at best. The shower was poor quality, very old and had mould in some places. The bathroom ceiling leaked and the light above the sink didn't work. The room was worn down and dirty and the balcony was looking on to a run down corner of a garden so not pleasant to sit in. We logged the issue with the bathroom and despite someone visiting nothing was sorted. We found a dead cockroach one day and despite asking at reception for the room to be thoroughly cleaned my partner had to point it out to the cleaner. One day we returned to the room to insufficient towels and had to go to reception the following day to request the were replenished. The sheet wasn't big enough for the bed it was on and was scratchy. Even when the cleaners had been the room felt dirty, the bathroom particularly but also the cups that were put in our room to drink tea/coffee from were dirty. When you spoke to reception you were made to feel like an inconvenience. The corridor and staircase lighting was terrible, meaning you walked most of way in the dark and it felt like you were in a basement. One part of the walk back from the pool / bar was pitch black, no lighting, uneven with steps far from ideal when one of us had a broken arm already. We had to use torches to see. The further addition to the disappointment of our holiday came when we fell ill on Sunday evening/Monday AM. Both myself and my partner were hit with severe diarrhea and stomach cramps. We were supposed to be visiting Pamukkale on Monday but decided against it due to how poorly we were. We tried to visit the hotel medical centre which was closed but we did eventually see a lady when reception called her. Before she arrived the man on reception had confirmed she wouldn't be able to provide the report Jet2 required re our illness and that we should attend a private hospital for 50 euros. The lady turned up and couldn't speak English, she put me on the phone with a man who didn't advise who he was but advised they wouldn't help and we would need to attend a private hospital and it would be 165 euros each. I explained my partner did not wish to travel away from hotel room/a toilet as he was and given treatment for food poisoning/gastro illness would be to let it pass I couldn't see the benefit of attending a hospital. I returned to reception to speak to the man and asked if i could speak to patient relations, i explained we needed a report for Jet2 and I felt given we had spent the previous day in the hotel and only eaten there we must have picked up something from the hotel so could they help. At this point the tone of the receptionist changed, he became quite defensive and said it wasn't the hotel as there is 300 guests and no one was ill just us. He then accussed us of being hungover and suggested guests are ill from drinking too much. I explained as our trip was an early start we didn't drink much the previous day. The man just kept repeating that it was our own fault not the hotel and there was nothing they would do. I asked to complain and he refused saying I could not complain regarding food as no one was ill. I repeated I wanted to make a complaint but it fell on deaf ears. I asked him to make a note of the request against our room number and I would complain through jet2. I believe he did this after I insisted. The following day 2 more of our party became poorly. this really soured our stay, not just being poorly but the lack of help from hotel staff. We spent most of the end of our holiday in the room feeling poorly with one member of our group being ill for nearly a week after being home. The bar staff and restaurant staff were the saving grace of the holiday particularly Celal who was so attentive throughout our meals. The food wasn't anything special and didn't have variety across our stay. The snack bar was better as you could.order pizzas, kebabs etc. We werent advised the A La Carte restaurant was only open 2 days and very limited space so when we went to book it was full which was disappointing albeit we would have been too poorly to attend if we had managed to secure a space. We contacted the hotel when we got back to raise our concerns before writing this review but haven't even had an acknowledgement
