Refurbished in 2013, this popular beach hotel is built in a style typical of Bodrum, low-rise and white-washed, and consists of 212 rooms in 6 buildings overlooking Bardakci Bay. Built on a sloping hill, the hotel is laid out in terraces reaching down to the sandy beach and grassed sun-bathing area. The cosmopolitan resort of Bodrum is less than a 30 minutes' walk away and to reach the majestic St Peter's Castle at the far end of the bay, it includes a walk along the pretty waterfront lined with Turkish gulets on one side and shops, bars and restaurants on the other. Public transport runs by the hotel.

Salmakis is a Lovely Hotel

This hotel is one of the best for its rating (4* on Jet2) that we have stayed in over many years. I do not understand the negative reviews that it has attracted, they certainly do not reflect our experience of this hotel. The hotel itself is not ultra modern, more traditional Turkish, which is nice, (some areas could do with a bit of a refresh). The hotel is probably not good for the less able person as it is on a hill and there are steps and slopes to negotiate. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful, those that were less so probably were shy or did not understand our language but I did not feel that it was rudeness. The food was delicious and varied but was mostly of a Turkish nature (what would you expect in Turkey ?). The drinks were very good with good measures and in proper glass glasses except at the pool and beach where it was in plastic for obvious reasons. Our room was very large and kept clean, we had to call maintenance a couple of times due to a faulty lock and they attended immediately. As for the negative reviews about the pool, I can only think that these people were there at an unfortunate moment in time, I always saw it as impeccably clean and also the pool area was completely washed most evenings, there is a digital monitor by the bar giving a constant update of the ph. and cl. levels in the pool. I could write many more positives about this hotel (and maybe a few minor niggles), but one notable negative for me, was the disco in the evening, the music was not to my taste, always hip-hop type genre, no variety and a bit loud, so had to find to a quieter area (usually the lounge area inside or outside with a great view). Needless to say I would not hesitate to return to Salmakis hotel and would advise to ignore these naysayers.

Unique Hotel with Great Views

Booked 2 single occupancy rooms with my best friend. Arrival and check in was smooth and the reception staff were welcoming. Our rooms were clean and with a fantastic view over the bay at night. As we arrived late we had a nightcap before retiring to bed. In the morning we were welcomed to that view in all its glory. I think our rooms were 818 & 820. The hotel is not a boring box it has a unique feel as built on the side of a hill with various alleyways, but there were lifts that can help on certain levels but not all the way down. The hotel takes a little time to get your baring's, but each time we went to and from breakfast & dinner we found another route. food was plentiful and the staff very attentive. We spent most of our time around the pool area as we were only there for 4 days/nights and wanted to make the most of the sunshine. The bar stocked everything you could want and the cocktails were well made. We did manage one trip on the water taxi into town to buy some gifts which was well worth a visit. All in all a great destination for single travellers or couples. Always felt safe and appreciated as a guest. Leaving a small tip for good services was something I have always done and this time was no exception. Thank you Salmakis for a fab holiday I am sure we will return again.

Disgusting hotel shocked

Absolutely terrible hotel shocked with service. Terrible food not even labeled with food information allergies. Only one restaurant which requires 4 lifts and alot of walking to get to. Rooms are disgusting unclean had dried blood on wall and shower was not working properly. Dated interior. Safe not secured. Staff are not helpful and cannot understand english. Manager was not helpful at all. Paid for half board which is breakfast and dinner only and management would not change to breakfast and lunch. Horrible food so had to get taxis to eat out for 7 days and would not recommend this hotel apparently 5 star to anyone more like 1 Star. Spa was not working no indoor pool or jacuzzi or hamann working. Absolutely disgusting and terrible service shocking Do not go here save your time and money believe me.
