We had an amazing holiday at Reethi Beach! We stayed for 8 days in August 2024 around the full moon, in water villa 207, on the all inclusive package. The villa was great, and we liked its rustic appearance, as well as that of the island as a whole, which had a relaxed vibe we enjoyed. The villa had a huge bed, a large bath and shower, a seating area, bifold doors so you can see the ocean from the bed, and balcony with steps leading down into the water. When we arrived there were some issues with the air con and bath, but these were fixed promptly. The villa was cleaned multiple times a day, and the person cleaning our room was polite and accommodating. We chose Reethi Beach for both its value for money, and its proximity to Hanifaru Bay, as I hoped to fulfil a dream of swimming with manta rays and whale sharks. The dive centre Ocean Fanatics were really great, and took us on several trips where we snorkelled with turtles, around 100 manta rays, and even a whale shark! We also dived the house reef and airport reef, guided by one of the team. At the airport reef we saw different sealife, including lionfish, an eel, a scorpionfish, a box fish, and astarfish. The house reef was also really good to snorkel. There are many live corals, and thousands of fish, including parrotfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, bannerfish, angelfish, batfish, damselfish, wrasse, humpback snappers, turtles, black tip reef sharks, eagle rays, and probably many other fish I'm not sure of the names of. There really were so many fish! The night snorkel of the house reef was also really good, with stingrays, nurse sharks, and black tip reef sharks making an appearance as the sun went down. The manta and whale shark trips are arranged by notification in a Whatsapp group when there are sightings on them, so getting a phone card with data at Male airport is recommended, as wifi unfortunately isn't available in most places on the island. The island also had other wildlife, including lots of hermit crabs, regular crabs, lizards, a heron, bats that come out in the day, and a variety of birds. We spent lots of time strolling along the beach spotting the different wildlife. One animal the island hardly had any of though is mosquitoes! This was a big plus for me as I usually react quite badly to mosquito bites. I used bug spray just in case, and only had one bite the whole time, though I only noticed this on the way home, so it could have been from Male rather than the island itself. The staff at Reethi Beach also deserve a special mention. Madu from the bar near the water villas was so friendly and entertaining, and when he found out my partner proposed to me on our second evening at Reethi Beach, Madu really went above and beyond to make sure we created great memories of the occasion! The resort also arranged for our room to be decorated, with a "Just engaged" message on our bed made from palm leaves and flowers, candles were dotted around the room, our bath was filled up with bubbles, flowers, and leaves, and a bottle of wine was wiating for us, which was a really nice surprise, and made the occasion extra special. The restaurant staff, including Rubel, Aiham, Binara, Dammi, Farish, and others, really went out of the way to make sure my dietary requirements were catered for. I'm usually vegan, but was okay with reverting back to vegetarian whilst on the island if they did not have many vegan options, but as it turned out there were a variety of vegan options at breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the main buffet restaurant. The chefs even prepared me special vegan dishes, asking what I would like, and creating delicious meals for me, which I really appreciated! They also decorated our table with flowers and napkins folded in the shape of birds and butterflies on our last night, which was a lovely touch. We also used the Coconut Spa, which offered a selection of deals, and where I had two massages and my partner had one. The massages were really good, and there's a nice area to relax in afterwards with a cool tea. There's also a nice gift shop, where we bought some souvenirs featuring manta rays, whale sharks, and turtles. Even though we visited in the rainy season, the majority of the time it didn't rain, and when it did it was heavy and then stopped quite quickly. There was quite a bit of wind at times, but there was only one night it was really loud, the rest of the time it was fine to sleep through, and nice to hear the waves from the villa. The majority of the time during our stay it was cloudy, though this kept the temperature from being too hot for us, which we actually preferred. The clouds began to clear on the last couple of days before we left, so we got to see some sunrise and sunset skies, and the moon and stars on our last night. Due to our flight from Male being so long after our check out time, the resort also allowed us to stay on the island a bit longer, by offering a discounted seaplane flight that would leave in the afternoon, rather than the speedboat and domestic transfer flight, which left in the morning, which we appreciated, and the seaplane allowed us to see the island from above, which we enjoyed. We were also able to check into our room early when we arrived, which was appreciated. In summary, it was an incredible holiday we'll always remember for many reasons, and we are already wanting to return!
