Pestana Grand was where my girlfriend and I stayed to celebrate another year since I asked her to become my girlfriend. When we arrived at the hotel, we were very well received. The receptionists explained everything about the hotel to us. We even had a glass of Madeira wine while we checked in. Our room was spacious and had a welcome treat on the table, consisting of a bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of fruit. There was also a kettle with tea bags and coffee bags next to it. Our room had a balcony and was clean. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub, as well as toiletries. There were robes and slippers in the wardrobe. We really liked the food at the hotel, but on the 14th it was even better than on the other days. When we arrived at the restaurant on the 14th, we had a welcome cocktail. The restaurant was decorated with Valentine's balloons and hearts, and among other things, the food was wonderful and the service exceptional. A special thank you to Sara Veríssimo Rodrigues unit Manager Sofia Freitas public relations Laura and Cláudia from reception Ricardo and Rúben from the restaurant.

I've been staying on Pestana Grand and is such a pleasant place, lovely staff always helpful and on good mood, lovely and tasty food and fenomenal presentation. I recommend strongly to stay here, is such an amazing experience. There are a few nice beaches being the closest around 5min walk, amazing location for all kinds of conveniences, the taxi came so quick when requested and shopping center just on top of the road wich is also 5 min walk. I look forward for my next trip to Madeira and i will definitely be staying again with you. Keep up the excelent service everyone, see you soon.

Hadn't visited since Covid pandemic but it was just as grand as before .The staff were welcoming ,friendly and you definitely feel "spoiled" and looked after staying here .All the staff were helpful and professional from Hugo and his colleagues at the bar (who mixed me many Sangrias and cocktails) and brought Coral Stout to my husband 😀 To the hard working woman who makes sure the gardens remain beautiful no matter what the weather is (I always make sure and tell her the garden is beautiful ) Our room was huge and comfortable with sofa ,chair and balcony looking west for the sunset and garden view .Food choice was huge ,fresh ,frequently replenished and I have now put on weight lol We did manage to book one Moroccan restaurant meal but these get booked up quickly .Tagine was yummy 😋 We'd definitely return but prices on Jet2 have increased dramatically for next year so may not sadly 😢 Thanks to all the staff for their hard work

Hotel nice. Food cheap

The hotel is in a lovely location next to the sea. We found the staff helpful and friendly and the rooms ok. Although the sound proofing not so good. We were woken up every morning at 6.30 from the room above. We didn’t have a sea view so can’t comment on that. We were on a half board basis and found the food very basic and cheap cuts. (Chicken drumsticks, pasta and the tiniest pieces of fish were on offer at the evening meal). Food is not 3 star standard never mind 5. It’s poorly set out as regards any allergies and I saw plenty of cross contamination, food dropped into other areas. Purely based on the food and the way it is set up, we wouldn’t return.

Excellent hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Rooms are a good size and clean. Like with a lot of large hotels, the buffet can be variable, some days better than others. Breakfast is excellent, always a good choice, something for everyone. Very relaxed atmosphere. An issue with the shower was fixed very quickly.

The Pestana Grand is one of the best and most prestigious 5-start hotels in Funchal, Madeira and sits upon the Ponta da Cruz cliff with a view of the oceans and Cabo Girão. It is only 30 minutes on foot from Formosa beach and has direct access to Promenade do Lido, the famous promenade in Madeira. Surrounded by magnificent gardens is the island's largest outdoor saltwater swimming pool with views of the sea. The hotel has a Spa, with a Jacuzzi, sauna, gym, Turkish bath and even a panoramic indoor swimming pool, in addition to massages and/or spa treatments. For dining, guests can enjoy four restaurants and two bars. If you bring your family, the little ones can play in the lounge or the garden with a game zone. There is a paid private car park (subject to availability). All rooms are spacious and bright, include Wi-Fi and have private balconies.
