My husband and I spend 4 nights at this beautiful resort following travel in Sri Lanka. Easy flight from Columbo to Male, where we were whisked away to a private lounge and then onto our speedboat to the resort. Easy to spot our resort sign in the arrival hall and then made our way to a very comfortable lounge complete with wifi, snacks, water and juice selection. Then we boarded the boat to the island. The ride started with a safety orientation and distribution of life vests. We were offered snacks, water and again wifi available. The ride was smooth and seemed faster than the 45 minutes it took. We arrived to our resort for the next 4 nights. We were greeted with a drummer and 5 staff members as a welcome. We were introduced to our butler, Hussian who walked us a short distance to the reception area. We were seated, given champagne and a foot massage. Then were escorted by Hussian to the buggy (golf cart) with a brief tour of where everything was on the island (bar, restaurants, dive shop, etc) then to our over the water villa with a jacuzzi and slide into the Indian Ocean. Villa: We were brought into our huge, gorgeous villa. The villa had a large area with a king size bed, window couch and chair, table, a fully stocked mini bar with coffee/tea station, wine splits, variety of cold soft drinks, juice and beer in the fridge. There was a large dressing room with double closets, a section mirror, a beautiful and huge soaking tub, then to the bathroom, seperate shower and toilet area separated by a vanity with double sinks. The to the veranda where the beauty is. We had a large jacuzzi (the water is not hot - thankfully as the weather was) pool with jets, 2 lounge chairs, a built in corner couch, a spiral slide into the ocean and stairs to walk down into the water. Our villa was very comfortable, A/C worked great, there was a ceiling fan. Bathroom, there is no door on the toilet area if that is an issue for you, and the shower has a clear glass window over the jacuzzi looking into the ocean. Neither of these were an issue for us, but may be for others. Bath products (Purple Water) were provided and were quite nice. There is a box of things you may need, bug repellant, vanity kits, toothbrush, comb, etc. Nice towels and beautiful bedding on the very comfortable bed. The slide was so much fun (we are "mature" travellers). I would book that again in a minute! Dining: Breakfast was available everyday in the Palms Restaurant. There was a station where you could order eggs, omelettes, pancakes, waffles with daily specials. There was also a noodle station. There was a seperate area with pastries, toast, salads, fresh pressed juices, cut to order fruit, etc. Everything was very fresh and very tasty. We attend Lonu for lunch for a traditional Maldivian meal. Our favourite meal of the trip, the flavours were amazing (and a bit spicy, but we love that). The tuna rice dish to die for! We had a lunch at M6M - what fun to watch the various fish and sharks swimming around. Service was really nice, food was good. I really feel like the food let down the venue. This is not a reflection on the staff, they were great, in fact really accomodating (they moved people who were not comfortable and they were very helpful with a family of a small child). Traditional Peking (shared space with Traditional Indoceylon, but different menus and kitchens). Service was great. We had shared starters of fish and dim sum basket, for main we had roast goose and steamed fish. It was good. Traditional Indoceylon - Service again great and exceeded our expectations. We shared starters of paneer and fish tikka followed by chicken curry and stir fried beef and of course a roti bread basket. Perfect for dipping in the sauces. We also added (not part of the all inclusive plan) the private beach BBQ. It was in a secluded, private beach area, complete with our own waiter and chef. We were able to choose our proteins from a refrigerated cabinet. We opted for lots of seafood, including large prawns, tuna, lobster and steak. They served starters and sides. This was a beautiful dinner and evening. Spa We had 3 (yes 3 in 4 nights) spa services. Beautiful spa huts and the staff were really lovely and gave the BEST massages! At the end of the massage they give you water or tea and then try to sell you products. Gift Shop What you would expect, I went to buy the obligatory magnet to commemorate our trip. Dive Shop We went there on our first day and obtain snorkel equipment for our stay. The only downside is you have to return the gear by 4:30pm the day before your checkout. We didn't leave our room on check out day until 12pm, so it would have been nice to use the equipment for our morning swim. Bars Joie De Vivre We did not enjoy this area. We went there 2 evenings to have drinks and watch the sunset. The down side of this area is there are kids everywhere, screaming for the attention of their parents who are too busy taking photos for their instagrams. Also, this is a smoking area. This is not the resorts fault and the servers were very nice. I do think this resort could benefit from an "adult only" area where you can go relax and enjoy the sunset with a drink. Gin Is In We wanted to go here on 2 occasions but alas, they are not open every day...so we never actually got there. This bar is an adults only, but every occasion we went there and were told they were closed. One time we were told maintenance and the next time we were told they use it as a departure lounge. Activity There are dives, snorkelling trips, sunset cruise and fishing trips. We did a snorkelling trip however it had rained heavy the night before and visibility was not great. We were able to snorkel directly from our villa and the water was gorgeous, warm, calm and filled with fish of all colours and sizes. Shout out to all staff, all of them were kind and super accommodating. Hussain our butler was amazing and seemed to be everywhere, he would pop in at our meals to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Literally everyone was wonderful from the cleaners, maintenance staff, painters, the sea urchin removers, waiters, managers, buggy drivers were amazing. Tip - bring water shoes not for the water (the water is perfect, with a sandy bottom) but the steps from the over water villa's are slick from algae. I also brought a nose plugger for going down the slide. Suggestions for improvements: adults only area in the evening for drinks. We will be back for sure! Loved our experience. Thanks you to everyone at Ozen Life Maadhoo for a memorable experience.
