Our 4th time to the Maldives. We enjoyed each stay thus far. Even so, NH Havodda was beyond special and we absolutely recommend a visit. Or two 🙂 From the moment we landed in Male, till the time we boarded our plane back home from Male, and everything in between (from the restaurant, to the dive center, to reception) there was always someone who was attentive to your needs with a warm genuine smile. The accommodations and facilities were perfect, and actually look better in person than in pictures. The food was fantastic, with lots of live stations, and chefs who put their heart and soul into their dishes. Snorkeling: the reason why we came here in the first place. On its best days, it was beyond expectations. It literally is a coral garden… healthy coral everywhere and all types, all around the island. Perhaps due to the season/ or storms off shore, there were some days with poor visibility. Depending where or the timing, the marine life might be typical of what you see on decent reefs. However, on good days- it was spectacular with lots reef sharks (a minimum of 3 on every snorkel we did; 12 max on one snorkel), eagle rays, turtles, schools of fish, crystal clear water that can be observed from above, etc. Keep in mind on the reef that during low tides [some parts of the reef at all times] you will have to swim to and from access/ exit points. Some are short, others can be quite long. And to get to the best reef (although the other parts are good as well), you will have to contend with potentially strong currents. The dive team was super helpful in giving advice when or when not to go to certain areas. If you make it to the best reef, which we did several times when it was safe too (about an hour journey or more depending on how much you stop to observe) the amount of fish/ action was spectacular!! Special shout outs to the following who really made NH Havodda memorable for us: Dewi (you always made us look forward to our meals) Isse (best excursion guide!) Chad (thanks for the snorkeling tips) Sid (thanks for the special dinner night!) Pradeep (thanks for the ice cream!!) Ranjith (enjoyed our conversations) Maikal (funny) Kishaanthan Hassan Munjid Young man from Sri Lanka in Reef restaurant (so sorry we forgot your name, but you always remembered ours and was a pleasure to talk to)
