I recently stayed at Mitsis Rodos Village, a hotel that is visually stunning with well-maintained grounds and beautiful interiors. The check-in process was smooth, and some staff members were welcoming and friendly during our stay. However, several issues significantly impacted our overall experience. One of the most frustrating aspects was the lack of communication about the hotel’s amenities. We weren’t informed about the swimming pool or spa until the last couple of days of our stay. It was only after we ran into a couple we knew that we learned about the spa. When we asked the staff for directions, they provided very vague instructions and didn’t seem particularly interested in helping us find it. No one offered to guide us there, which was disappointing. Additionally, there was a sit-down restaurant where you could order a meal, but we only found out about it on our last day. Fortunately, the manager of the restaurant was very accommodating. After explaining that we weren’t aware of the restaurant and that it was our last day, he kindly made room for us, which we greatly appreciated. This was one of the rare instances of excellent service during our stay. The hotel offers three dining options: the main buffet restaurant, a sit-down three-course meal restaurant, and a poolside restaurant that serves fast food like burgers and chips. While we had some issues with the main restaurant, particularly with the lack of labeling on the dishes, the experience at the poolside restaurant was even more disappointing. The poolside restaurant was poorly managed. The food, which should have been simple and tasty, was anything but. Burgers and chips were served in a visibly unclean environment, with staff using their fingers to plate up food, often without gloves. The portions were small, the chips were soggy, and the overall presentation was lacking. It was clear that the staff was overworked, and the entire area felt very unclean. The queues were long, and the service slow, which only added to the frustration. The main buffet restaurant had its own issues. The food was not consistently labeled, making it difficult for guests with dietary restrictions to know what they were eating. As someone who doesn’t eat pork, I often had to spend 5 to 10 minutes finding someone who could tell me what was being served, only to be met with dismissive responses like "I don’t speak English" or "I don’t know." The presentation of the food was also lacking, and the cleanliness of the utensils was not up to standard. The service at the bars was another area where the hotel fell short. The queues were consistently long, and on multiple occasions, the staff appeared frustrated or annoyed, making us feel uncomfortable when ordering drinks. It felt as though we were inconveniencing them, which is not the atmosphere you want on a vacation. One of the few highlights was the entertainment, which was enjoyable. However, the entertainment area was located at the top of the hotel, and we were not informed that carts were available to take us there. As a result, we had to walk up a steep incline, which was exhausting, especially in the heat. In summary, while the hotel is beautiful and offers some good amenities, the service and communication left much to be desired. The poolside restaurant was particularly disappointing, with poor hygiene and food quality. There were a few standout employees who were great, but unfortunately, they were the exception rather than the rule. The lack of information about key amenities and the generally poor communication and attitude from some staff members made for a less than ideal experience.

After recommendations, this was our first experience of the Mitsis Hotel Group. We were a family of 13 aged between 5 - 66 years, occupying 4 rooms. The Mitsis Rodos Village is rated a 5* and quite honestly we were underwhelmed to say the least. We have stayed in other hotel chains rated 4* which were far superior. I would like to add we had conversations with lots of other guests during our stay all saying the same, so it wasn't just us! While the hotel is very aesthetic and has been beautifully renovated with impressive rooms and layout, there's much more that goes into making a hotel truly 5-star. There are many areas outside on walkways which display slippery signs. This is not acceptable and needs to be rectified as they are extremely dangerous. Let me start with the food, which was a major disappointment during our stay. The meals were mediocre at best, with not a single warm dish throughout the week. Breakfast was repetitive, and there were limited options for children. We faced constant issues with restaurant bookings, and the service was consistently slow, with staff often seeming uninterested. Housekeeping was another let-down. In our daughters room the bed was barely made, the floors didn’t appear to be mopped, and there was visible mould under a table placed in the shower—definitely not what you'd expect from a high-end hotel. We all paid extra for sea views, our Room 138, yes we could see the sea but our room looked out onto the hotel entrance roof. This room also only has a mirror in the bathroom with no other mirror in the bedroom area. Our daughter’s family room 642 was barely big enough to walk round the beds the same as our son’s room 916. Our other son’s room 925 smelt of sewage. As for the beach, it falls far short of a 5-star standard. The area lacks basic amenities like tables, many chairs were broken, and the beach bar was filthy and dangerously slippery, clearly in need of a thorough clean. Sun beds and umbrellas also shabby. Regarding the staff, while there were a few standouts like Zeta at the bar, Nancy in the restaurant, and Maria making omelettes, most of the staff seemed disinterested, and simple courtesies like a 'good morning' were rare. Some of Reception and Concierge are in need of customer service training as are letting others in their team down and baring in mind they are Front of House this needs addressing. We heard many heated conversations with Reception/Concierge and other guests. The pool situation was also disappointing. The lower pool had a strong sewage odour and to make matters worse, it doesn’t open until 10 AM, which is inconvenient for those who want to enjoy an earlier start especially with kids. The upper pools were nicer but lacked entertainment, music, and even basic services like clearing glasses or offering drinks. Sunbeds were another challenge. If you like to sleep in on vacation but also want a sun lounger, this hotel might not be for you. Expect to wake up at 7 AM daily to secure a sunbed, and then sit by it until the 'towel police' confirm your reservation—otherwise, your towels may be removed. By 9 AM, finding a free sunbed is nearly impossible. Adding to the inconvenience, my 66-year-old husband requested a buggy to help bring 10 suitcases to the lobby, but was told that priority was given to check-ins and that no one would be available for over 30 minutes. We were left to walk down a steep hill with suitcases and bags over our shoulders, which was both dangerous and exhausting. Overall, the hotel struggles to meet demand during peak season. It’s far too crowded for the amenities available, leaving much to be desired in terms of service and experience. We paid a lot of money as a family group for this holiday and question if we would return to a Mitsis hotel again or recommend to friends or family. Speaking with other guests we were not alone in the comments we have made. However, some guests told us that other Mitsis hotels they have stayed at are far superior to Rodos Village and live up to 5* expectations and standards. We were extremely disappointed with our first Mitsis Hotel experience.

We stayed for 2 weeks and after reading reviews I was so sceptical. We stayed in the Mitsis Rinela in April and had an amazing time so decided to book another in the chain for 2 weeks with the children. The coach transfer took 1hr 47 to get to the resort and we passed some beautiful towns whilst dropping off fellow passengers. When we arrived the hotel is beautiful. The check in was rather frosty, the receptionist was on the phone whilst checking us in and I felt this was rather unprofessional. We were then taken to our room by George on a golf buggy and he showed us the various pools and food outlets. We booked a garden view bungalow but were given a sea view so we were very happy with this. The room itself was compact and the children’s single beds were rather uncomfortable but the main king size bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on! Storage was a bit tight but we made it work. The shampoo and conditioner was like washing your hair with concrete so tip for the ladies is to take your own or you will need to be using hair masks when you return! We also ran out of toiletries by day 6 so we had to ask reception for this. We also had a broken chair on the balcony and the phones didn’t work so we reported this to reception but this was never rectified or sorted. Food was very hit and miss. The omelettes in the morning by the lovely Maria was amazing and she was always going the extra mile. The buffet serves some very odd choices, for example, liver and grapes. Often the children would have spaghetti and bolognese or tomato sauce and chips, looking round at other tables a lot of parents looked in the same boat! The salad bar was always lovely but sometimes the other options were lacking and after 2 weeks we were a bit fed up with the choices. The a la carte restaurants were better. We loved the Italian and the Greek restaurants. My only advice is when you order a salad and starter these come at the same time. We did ask for them to come separately but we were told quite sternly that these are starters and come out together! Maryann was incredible and the best waitress we had over the 2 weeks. She was so efficient and smiling throughout. Drinks were very hit and miss. Sometimes when you order a drink they would just give you something else altogether. For example a beer with sprite turned into a beer with lemon Fanta. Very odd concoction. The only labelled spirit was aperol. The red and rose wine was lovely. Albie in the day bar was incredible. His service was second to none and he had learnt our drink orders by day 2. So special shout out to him! The golf buggies around the resort was a real life saver in the 40°c heat. The guys who did it were all so friendly and always up for a chat. They even learnt our room number so we didn’t need to tell them. Thanks so much for always making us smile and making the children giggle. The infinity pools were beautiful and we never struggled to get a bed, no matter the time. As a family of 4 we tended to get 2 beds as the children are mainly in the pool. The pool down the bottom gets very murky and I feel that more chlorine would be better as you couldn’t see your hands under the water. The entertainment was good but the amphitheatre wasn’t the most comfortable. Entertainment started at 10pm for adults or the mini disco at 9pm which is quite late for those with young children. The fireworks on the beach were amazing! The beach.. The sand is dusty shingle but the sea is beautifully clear. The beds… Honestly it’s like a comedy sketch watching people get on their loungers. They seriously need to be upgraded! The pizza on the beach is lovely and they also offer hot dogs and cheese and ham toastie. The servers were lovely and friendly but they would shake the tip box at you all the time, I found this so intrusive. I am more than happy to tip but I don’t want it forced upon me! All in all the hotel is stunning, the gardens are fab. But I feel this hotel isn’t a 5*. The drinks should be branded in my opinion for the price paid, the food needs to cater to all (children, different nationalities) and needs to be good quality. The extra beds in rooms need better mattresses. On departure we went for breakfast and told the reception (as we had no phone to ring) that our bags were in our room and we were getting collected in 45mins. When our transfer turned up the bags hadn’t been collected and the transfer man said he wasn’t going to wait. This put a bit of a sour note onto the holiday! We had a lovely time but would I stay again.. No. There are so many minor tweaks to make this hotel brilliant but I feel that it’s not quite hitting the mark.

This hotel is definitely not 5 star, and should go through a thorough revisit from the board that awards these things. The a la carte restaurants have to be booked in advance and we didn’t manage to get into any of them. The buffet was mediocre at best. Everything was overcooked and lukewarm. The thing that really baffled me despite the above was how unfriendly all of the staff were (except a nice chap at the creperie and another called Irland at the entrance of the hotel). Literally not even a smile, they all looked like they hated their jobs and it made for a really uncomfortable break. We really wouldn’t ever visit this hotel again. Ps Lindos was a beautiful little village about 15 minutes away, well worth a few hours there but do not get ripped off by the taxi like we did. €75 for a return trip by telling us he was going to go a different way in order to get a great photo of us.
