Mihiri is a small retreat with out of this world food and a creative chef.the bungalows sit on the water and all you have to do, is take your snorkeling gear and go down from your deck right to the water. The reef is all around and on a good swim, you can see white and black tip sharks plus a lot of other fish. The bungalows are nicely decorated with everything you need. On Valentine’s Day, they had a big sunset party on the beach with a bar serving drinks. Once we were back from having dinner at the restaurant, we found our bed decorated with roses and hearts. Chocolate also with heart design was set for us to enjoy. They went out of the way to indulge us with a special celebration - kudos . People who come here, seek sun, diving and an escape from everyday life. Which is exactly what this is. A little paradise out in the Indian Ocean. We did several activities which included Manta excursion and 3 reefs snorkel. Both were nice but unfortunately, visibility was poor on that day. As it happened,, we couldn’t take the Whale shark excursion on the day that it was offered. So we opted for a private one and we requested Lynn, the Marine Biologist extraordinaire to join us. At first, when we encountered the first Whale shark, there were so many boats with so many people, some pushing and not respecting the regulations around the sharks. I was overwhelmed. Then in the early pm everybody seemed to leave and we encountered 2 more sharks that were only for us to enjoy. What a miracle it was. We slowly swam with them for a while and for the cherry on top of the cake, 2 mantas came to join the party. A very moving experience. Thank you Mihiri for a fantastic stay.
