Just returned from a 10D 9N stay at Mirihi with 4 generations of my family, having previously visited 12 years ago. I can truthfully say that our experience was faultless - just as it was 12 years ago. I arranged the trip directly with the resort - both Helen (Director of Sales and Marketing) and Muhammad (Reservation Manager) dealt promptly with my queries and ensured the booking process was seamless. We also pre-arranged some excursions, which Carmen (Guest Relations Manager) sorted out for us. It was a real pleasure to meet both Muhammad and Carmen when we arrived at the island. In fact all staff that we had the pleasure of meeting were exemplary and all our needs were more than catered for, including my 86 year old mother and my nephew's 7 month old baby. As an indicator of the level of service you can expect at Mirihi, when my mother mentioned that she would have to be careful on the (three) steps in to her beach villa, she returned to find a new handrail had been built !! We were on a half-board package, and ate all our meals at the main restaurant, the Dohnveli (there is also an a la carte over-water restaurant, the Muraka, where staff put on a cocktail party, so we could experience the full wonder of the glorious sunset). Our party were all astounded by the quality and variety of food on offer at the Dohnveli (including the two chefs in our party) - there was a different theme to the food each night, with more than enough choice to please every palate in each of the starter, main course and dessert sections of the menu. Indeed special dishes were arranged for members of our party with gluten- and dairy- intolerance. The Head chef, Felix, clearly has real pride in his work, as he took the trouble to greet our party individually to explain each of the dishes on offer. All our party would like to pass on our appreciation to Felix and his team - we thoroughly enjoyed your food !! All our party are fairly active and all were looking forward to the snorkelling opportunities that Mirihi offers. We were particularly attracted by the quality of the house reef, enabling us to snorkel direct from the beach, jetty or, indeed, the water villa. We weren't disappointed !! We had a great time spotting the marine life, large and small - the levels of excitement when the younger members of our party spotted their first shark and turtle were off the scale !! We all went night snorkelling, available from the Ocean Pro dive centre, where we also organised some scuba diving. Big thanks to Steve, Lynn, Jana and Naaim at the dive centre for putting up with us all - you all made a big difference to our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed your company. We also had a table-tennis tournament (won by my aforementioned mother - not sure how !!), and made full use of the well-appointed gym, beach chess, and kayaking opportunities. Some of our party also participated in the yoga classes and spoke very highly of the massage they had Duniye Spa. There is a five-a-side football pitch on the island and this was used most nights by members of staff. My three nephews were kindly invited to participate and thoroughly enjoyed it, even if they were totally outclassed !! We had a fabulous holiday and made memories that we will talk about for years to come. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mirihi - it is a very special place.
