First time on Milaidho, back in February 2021, we were blown away and we always wanted to return. Now 4 years later we did for 7 nights in a water villa, coming from another resort with boat transfer. Arrival was nice, but somewhat forced. The RM seemed .... out of humour for some reason. Our island host Roxy, lovely young woman, took us to our room 116 (excellent position for snorkeling, sunset and view). The villa was fantastic and I happily noticed that they had put up some hooks for towels next to the shower. Food was a bit up and down. Breakfast excellent, Milaidhoo really shines here. Lunch was in Compass bar, delicious if more simple dishes and outstanding service from the staff. However, it is always a bit tricky eating at a bar table. The other lunch option this time around was something called Azure. An area to the left of the main restaurant OCEAN, mostly in the foliage and very hot. The menu was from OCEAN but honestly I do not think it is five star compatible to offer only one (in practice it was only one) lunch option and then in a bar, for a resort at this very high end level. I had looked forward to lunching at OCEAN at least half of the days. My guess is that this is due to few people eating lunch to skimp om´n expenses, but still, not ok. Batheli is a lovely setting, again excellent service and presentation but the food was ..not bad but lacking in taste a bit. Shoreline grill is where the culinary heaven is. Every single item we ordered was amazing, the service, the wines top notch! We did have dinner at Ocean a few nights and it was also very good. Oh, we also had a chef's table experience. Great food, not very much ambience, but again great service. Snorkeling around Milaidhoo is breathtaking. We altered between going straight in from our villa and getting in from 301 on the other side of the island. Stunning reef and fish life. Best in the Maldives so far (and we have visited many, many resorts). We were on gourmet plan and it is so relaxing but for one huge BUT. The mini bar is not included. They could easily have a special mini bar collection for people on GP including the same wines as in the GP. Again, considering the price tag this is a big no without any good reason. I strongly suggest you add this to GP. Staff were all lovely, kind and helpful. So many great people, especially our host Roxy! She went above and beyond in many ways. We were also lucky enough to run into Shuhan, legendary former GM. We also met the current GM Frank and he seems a nice enough man if maybe a bit rehearsed in his communication. ;-) We were so grateful for getting a late checkout from our villa and around 15.00 we left the island for Male and our international flight. We stayed in the Manta lounge for a few hours before being driven to the airport and checked in and all went very smoothly. I can absolutely recommend Milaidhoo, it is an outstanding resort in many ways and very small and harmonious, which we love. The price level does get in the way for us, unfortunately. I could pay but would I? I doubt it, I will gladly list all kinds of superlatives on this paradise pearl, but it is over priced, there is no getting around it. That being said I want to thank all the amazing staff, the Milaidhoo family, that pampered us during our lovely week! Big shout out to Roxy, keep watching the bat trees! ;-)
