Firstly, I agree with the Jet2’s rating of 4 stars for the Megasaray. We enjoyed our 11 nights (5/10-16/10) but it’s not perfect. Our room was on the 8th floor with a fantastic sea view, it was very spacious and the bed was enormous. The balcony was just wide enough to step onto but too small for a chair. The bedroom furniture is dated and I am sure is due to be replaced in the near future. It is fully carpeted and as a consequence it had an accumulation of marks/stains. That said housekeeping serviced the room daily and kept it spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a good size with an over bath shower, something we had not experienced in a hotel for some years. Towels were changed daily. The air conditioning worked perfectly, however the volume on the television didn’t which was not a problem as we couldn’t find any English language stations! The variety of food at the Megasaray is unbelievable! There’s certainly something for everyone. It does suffer from a common problem to many all-inclusive hotels, keeping the food hot. In speaking to other hotel residents many mentioned the same issue. Perhaps a few micro wave ovens could be used or an up grade in the hot plates or is it a kitchen management issue? Even so the majority of dishes are fine and the quality of food is 1st class. It would be neglect not to mention the cakes and desserts, they are to die for! I can say without hesitation the best I have tasted in Turkey. Its not just the main dining room though there are other catering alternatives on the complex providing ice cream, baked potatoes, pasta, burgers, pizza and much more all very tasty. The private beach is a short distance from the hotel but not an inconvenience. It has its own bar and catering which we found very good. The drinks/alcohol menu is fantastic including most major brands such as Absolut, Johnny Walker, and Jack Daniels. The beer is Efes draft or bottle. There’s an extensive list of cocktails (didn’t try them). My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the nightly entertainment which was both varied and very professional from dance groups to bands. A small point but for whatever reason there are no toilet signs anywhere on the complex, the toilets are there but nobody knows where as they are hidden without identification! Last but not least the staff, they were all very friendly and helpful from reception, entertainment, waiting, bar and house keeping all a credit to the Megasaray. I would like to give a shout out for two staff who were just exceptional and an example to all, Kubilay Hazar and Halil Ibrahim. Would we return? Probably not, as although we enjoyed our stay, we didn’t realise how much we would miss a large balcony and a sandy beach. Both omissions we knew about, as the balcony and beach are described by Jet2, so down to us!
