Meandros Boutique Hotel & Spa

First of the island of Zakynthos is an absolutely beautiful island! We traveled from Texas USA Me and my now fiancé In August where i proposed here on a boat tour provided by Ian robert’s the concierge at the meandros hotel, Mr Robert’s set up a private transfer from the airport to the hotel and set everything up for our lovely stay, I was able to communicate with him via whatsapp 2 weeks prior to arrival and he made sure i was taking care of! Amazing experience and all the staff at the hotel was very welcoming and nice each and every day! I would recommend this place 10/10 as their is a beach 5 min walk down the road and their are restaurants and bars all around.

On arrival at 1.00pm we were told our rooms were not yet ready until 3.00pm but we could check in early if we paid 20€ per room. Then there was a safe charge of 3€ per day which I have never known in a 5* hotel, so we just got one safe between our two rooms. There is also a charge of 10€ per day to use the inside pool once again never heard of this in a 5* hotel totally understand that you pay extra for massages, etc but not to use the pool - needless to say we did not venture into the Spa area. The hotel is spotlessly clean, nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds. The pool is very quiet and relaxing with a little background music, the sunbeds could do with being updated as my sister-in-law got her fingers trapped when the bed decided to collapse on her. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice of hot items and lovely fruit, cheeses, hams, yoghurts, etc and a hit & miss omelette station, - I say this as it depended on who cooked your omelette on how good or not so good. Dinner for the first 5 days was not very good and I am not a fussy eater and will try anything but we ended up eating out most nights, my brother-in-law only had dessert one evening as there was nothing he could eat at all. Our room was beautiful and a lovely view, the bed was so comfortable and we both slept very well, pool towels are provided and can be changed as and when required. Aircon was good & very quiet. Bathroom has a fixed hair dryer , we had a shower over the bath and one day the bathroom flooded but it was sorted very quickly. There is a screen on the balcony doors and bathroom window to stop insects getting in which was an excellent feature. The staff were great, shout-out to Blake and the restaurant staff as they could not be more helpful if they tried and are a credit to the hotel. The main restaurant - Uranus Sky Restaurant was not open when we were there at beginning of June, so we did not get a chance to try it. We would definitely return to the hotel but on a B&B basis next time as there are so many beautiful eating places on the strip to try.

Having read some of the negative reviews before staying at this hotel I want to try and give a fair evaluation of what we found. If you are looking for a noisy hotel with loads of entertainment and a huge buffet with all English food then this is not the hotel for you, however, if you want an authentic, charming peaceful hotel with beautiful greek food then this is your place. The Hotel - The hotel reception, dining room , pool area and pool bar are all so beautiful and immaculately clean. One of the great things about the pool area is all of the sunbeds and umberellas are in a great position for sunbathing all day, granted I must admit they are tightly packed together, but we were never sat next to anyone as it wasn't ever that busy even in August. The most refreshing thing here was there were no towels out at 7am as there were beds available whatever time of day you turned up. Two mornings in a row we were the only people there at 10am. The pool water is a perfect temperature at all times and the maintenance guy does the pool cleaning around 8 o'clock so everything is pristine and ready for use by 9am. Pool towels are changed every two days by housekeeping which we found very acceptable. The Food - both the breakfast and evening buffet is outstandingly good. It is set up beautifully and for a small hotel it offers a wide variety of dishes. Everything is always hot and cooked perfectly. We particularly liked the salad bar and the desserts and their attempt at British Sunday lunch was admirable. You can sit inside or out for both breakfast and dinner. My only complaint would be the air conditioning is inadequate for those who like to sit inside. It was extremely hot when we were there and a nice air-conditioned dining room would have been appreciated. We had a bite of lunch on one day and a few drinks at the pool bar both of which were very good The room - We had a superior jacuzzi suite on the top floor with lovely views over the pool and towards the sea. The room was huge and beautifully decorated. We turned the temperature right down on the jacuzzi and really enjoyed using it before we got showered to go out on an evening. Unlike some other guests we were not charged for the safe or use of the fridge for our own drinks , in fact when we asked if we could use it the lovely lady on reception offered to send housekeeping to remove all of the mini bar contents so we could have full use of it ourselves. The air conditioning in the room is amazing and lovely for sleeping at night. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the set up of our bathroom with two sinks and a separate shower and toilet. The staff - I cannot stress enough how fabulous all of the staff are. The Greek people are beautiful souls and we have never felt more welcome and cared for as we did on our stay here The area - the hotel is just off the main strip so after your lovely peaceful day around the pool you can walk just two minutes and you have a wide choice of shops, bars and restaurants at hand. We loved the beach bar at the Crystal Beach Hotel for an evening drink and Antonis pool bar for some lighthearted entertainment. We ate lunch 3 times at Georgia's and the food was very good. We hired a quad bike for the day at the hire place next door to the hotel and toured the island which was stunning. If I can give you any advise it would be to take the majority of your spending money in cash as this helps the local businesses immensely and you can generally get a better price for almost anything if you use cash rather than a card So all in all we would suggest if you want a peaceful authentic holiday then definitely stay here. If we were to return to Zante I would book this hotel again in a heartbeat

Visited this hotel August 2nd to 9th. To keep it sort and sweet this hotel is awesome. I’m a fussy eater and to be honest the food was really good. Sunbeds you could pick anywhere every day. We had room 210 which was amazing. Over looking the pool. Staff and waiters were so polite and a big shout out to Blake nothing was any trouble for him. Spent 7 nights here with my partner and my parents. The breakfast and evening meal are well cooked and varied. You don’t get as much choice as a ‘full’ all inclusive but it’s quality food. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and polite. You can pay €10 to check in early which some have commented isn’t right as the room is already cleaned. But every hotel check in is around 2pm and you’re paying for convenience, you pay to check out late so to check in early is fair enough to pay. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Honest review so I’ll say the lunch time food isn’t the best, for example the pizza seems either frozen or made on a pre-prepared base, but as stated there are plenty of bars and restaurants within minutes away. You do have to pay for the gym which is not standard across Europe having stayed across Europe, but this should not put anyone off staying, it’s the same price as a cocktail in England so in that perspective you can’t complain. Would definitely recommend and may return one day but still exploring the world at this point. Thanks for a great week
