We turned up at the hotel front desk and were completely rushed through check in, there was no welcome or greeting or talk through available amenities. I could half understand if the lady at the front desk was under pressure due to a queue of people or a phone ringing but there was literally one other couple behind us, I get it’s a 3 star hotel bet our first reception was poor. Something which really annoyed me was after she abruptly checked us in and quickly dealt with the other couple waiting, she either turned on her Tik Tok or YouTube and sat at the desk watching it. We were a few hours early for our room and so wanted to leave our backpacks at the hotel whilst we explored ao nang, the same lady said we should leave them on the sofa next to the front desk, I asked if they had a luggage room to leave them and she said no they will be fine here as it was a few meters from her desk and she would keep an eye on them, she said to take our valuables out which are already as they are in my small bag, but our clothes and belongings are not cheap which remained in our large rucksacks. When we arrived later to pick up our rucksacks there was another lady working on the desk who didn’t even question us as we opened our rucksacks - unprofessional that a hotel of this size does not have an area for guests to leave their luggage as anyone could have rooted through our belongings or probably just walked off with them. We had a look around the hotel and for a starter the gym is permanently closed even though advertised on their website and also the pool bar too. This was really frustrating and is false advertisement, booking.com should be updated accordingly so new customers aren’t misold. We also noticed a very strong smell of sewage from the toilets all the way up to the swimming pool we couldn’t sit round the pool. Lastly, there was a really strong smell of damp in our room (ground floor) and although the hotel staff gave us some air fresheners to try and eradicate, the smell wouldn’t go away. We did highlight this to another lady at the front desk who was actually very polite and friendly, although she was only able to offer us another ground floor room which smelt even worse. I’m guessing the strong smell of damp was caused by the floods they may of had in the monsoon season but at the end of the day we are paying guests and four nights in a hotel room on holiday which stinks of damp is rubbish. I don’t like giving bad reviews but our stay here ruined our experience in Ao Nang
