We stayed at La Quinta from 6th to 14th October 2024 all-inclusive. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and made the most of it, but there were several aspects that let the hotel down and marred the holiday. Arrival We arrived around 3pm at the scheduled check-in time. The greeting was unfriendly and the reception staff seemed unbothered about our arrival. Reception is tired, dirty and for some reason we were in the dark - the lights were not switched on. We were told that our room was not yet ready but would be ready in 15 minutes. We were not given any kind of welcome drink or apology. We were then told to head to the pool bar for a drink and some food which we had to locate ourselves. The receptionist gave us a single sheet of paper with the restaurant times but there was a severe lack of information about what was included and at what times in the all-inclusive rate. This theme continued throughout. We came back up to the reception area after half an hour to be told our room was still not ready. An hour after our arrival, we finally gained access. Room We were shown into our room by a staff member who kindly wheeled our suitcase and then showed us the safe – that was it. Again, there was no mention as to where any of the facilities or restaurant were located and the times for the all-inclusive. It was alluded that there was a separate a la carte restaurant by the signs in the lift, but this did not exist. We discovered that the balcony lock was broken so had to call maintenance. They fixed it very quickly, but this was another hassle. Again, no apology. The room was a deluxe sea view, which we booked after seeing reviews. It was a decent size and had a balcony, although the view was obstructed slightly as we were on the end of the building. It is decently modern but there is some significant wear and tear to Room 602 such as chips off the wood on the dressing table, leftover stickers on the window, general markings and dirtiness left from constant use. As a side note, as the hotel has changed hands, there are different plaques stuck over the old ones with different locations/room numbers and so on which look quite awful. The bathroom is newer and well-done, well-equipped and has a high-pressured shower. Cleanliness The daily cleaning of the room was very good, so much so that you could see that the floors had been properly mopped. Fresh towels were supplied every day, tea and coffee amenities and water bottles. The hotel itself felt clean, but not to the degree of the room. Most of the furniture had a lot of wear and tear and needs replacing. Cleaning products and equipment were left on show which ruined the aesthetic of the pool/seaside atmosphere. Pool towels These were easy to obtain by the pool and there was plenty to take two each. They were clean and the two different colours (cream and orange) added to the "rustic" feel of the hotel. Sunbeds There are plenty of sunbeds by the pool and on the jetties by the sea (advertised as a private beach, but there is only a jetty where you can access the sea). It was not difficult to find a sunbed each day even in the late afternoon, though these are dirty. There are also rattan day beds on astroturf which are lovely to sit on but are ripped and also dirty from too much use. Restaurant The only restaurant (the same location for breakfast, lunch and dinner) is in a stunning setting, on the third floor and overlooking the scenery and sea. There is outside seating and indoor seating which feels more like a canteen. The service here is sporadic - you are sometimes offered drinks and water but mostly you have to ask or fend for yourself. However, the food in the restaurant is hit and miss, some dishes taste great and some are bland. There is a distinct lack of choice with the same dishes appearing daily. It's a basic buffet as expected at an all-inclusive but there is no change in the type of dishes cooked or the cuisine. For breakfast there are freshly cooked omelettes, eggs and pancakes to order but otherwise a basic continental, however there were no pastries for breakfast and no baklava for dessert (which you would expect being in Turkey). Snack bar The snack bar is probably the most confusing element of this hotel. When we arrived, we were told that for all-inclusive members we could eat what was in the metal buffet containers which were basically leftovers from the main restaurant. We were told that it was from 2:30pm to 5pm daily but we discovered on our last day (through a guest, not the staff) that we could have ordered burgers and alike from the restaurant but after 2:30pm and any time before that, you would have to pay extra. Ice cream was available and was delicious, although difficult to find as it is not signposted. You have to ask one of the chefs behind the kitchen and it all feels as if they're gatekeeping it. Drinks There is a fairly good selection of all-inclusive drinks if you like cocktails with gin or vodka. Coffee and soft drinks are also available. Everything is local so the rum cocktails and other signature cocktails and drinks are extra. The beer and wine is local and fairly standard. One plus is that there are waiters who will bring you drinks while you're lounging on a sunbed which really adds to the holiday experience. Setting The highlight of this hotel is the setting. It has beautiful view overlooking Bodrum harbour, the castle and the mountains. The pool overlooks the sea and the surrounding areas and outside areas of the hotel are amazing to look at. However, there is a lot of wasted space both outdoors and indoors. There is room for another bar or snack station and the indoor winter bar is not in use, although nicer than the reception area. Entertainment None. The pool music was the same daily and could be mixed up to create some atmosphere for the evenings. Staff and management Possibly what lets this hotel down the most is the staff. They are unhelpful, disinterested and do not care. Most of them don't speak good English, which is fine, but they don't show any willingness to be helpful and asking them for a drink or a piece of missing cutlery feels like a burden. They have a huge disrespect for the guests and they have a bad attitude to being in their workplace it seems. Most of them take their breaks in sight of the guests and are often seen chatting and on their phones during dinner service. The management staff seem to do nothing to organise them or provide any instruction and swan about all day also on their phones. A little would go a long way for the staff to be even slightly more attentive to the guests by even welcoming them to the restaurant and offering them a drink. It is a shame that the staff don't seem to want to be there. They eat their dinner at the same buffet as the guests which makes sense as food shouldn't go to waste but often it is while dinner service is in mid-flow which makes it feel a little awkward. Finally, our last day was completely marred because it was not stated anywhere to us either in booking the hotel or word of mouth that the all-inclusive privilege was to be taken away at 12pm on our last day. Our transfer from the hotel to the airport was booked for 6:30pm and we expected to be able to enjoy the facilities throughout the day (as most people would) particularly as we arrived in the afternoon on our first day and our room wasn't ready. The receptionist was once again rude and got out the scissors to snip it off our wrist bands before we could protest. This meant that we did not enjoy any food or drink for the rest of the day through fear of being reprimanded. This ruined the experience of our last day as you book all-inclusive to expect not to incur any further costs. Further, there is nowhere to shower or get ready inside before your transfer to the airport (if your transfer is after 12pm which is the check-out time) which means we had to get ready by the poolside. There is space inside for at least a shower room for guests to get ready in and this should be something that is implemented. Despite the issues, we had a great time away with the setting, location and enjoying what the all-inclusive did have on offer. Bodrum is a 15 minute walk away and there is a water taxi from the hotel to Bodrum harbour which is only 100 turkish lira each for each way which is very enjoyable. We would not stay here again unless improvements are made and the price is right but if you are planning on staying here (the setting is undeniably beautiful), I would suggest making sure you get all the information you can on what's on offer.
