La Piscine Art Hotel

Excellent choice if you are visiting Skiathos! The staff is really friendly and helpful. Try the pool bar, Alex makes great cocktails. Dinner by the pool is excellent and the food is exquisite. Minor details could be improved which would make the visit even better.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. It was stylish (although some of the ‘art’ was pretty dreadful - several were also quite sexist- and out of context with the hotel styling). It was in a great location and the housekeeping and evening restaurant staff were excellent. What I certainly didn’t like were the miserable staff during the day shift. I was also read the riot act for eating some crisps (bought at a nearby supermarket) in the bar area. Understood that, but then told we were not allowed to eat crisps on our sunbed - this attitude drove us to the beaches instead. Being asked for my room number twice at breakfast, when staff surely recognised us and we had clearly not just pitched up off the street. La Piscine is apparently an ‘exclusive art hotel’ - but we were disappointed and it proved not to be good value for money. We will continue to return to Skiathos, but not to this hotel.

Review Ok I’m going to start with the positives. The location is brilliant. Just a short walk from the bustling Main Street in Skiathos town. The rooms are well air conditioned and quiet. And beds are comfy. The staff are lovely and really accommodating. They can’t do enough for you and all the main areas like reception, the pool area and bar are lovely. However, for a 5 star hotel we were disappointed at some of the details. The breakfast was definitely not 5 star. The fruit was fizzy and tasted off, the Greek yoghurt was horrible (the thing I was most looking forward to eating) the hot breakfast buffet was poor and the fruit juice was watered down. The rooms were ok but need updating. The balcony was overlooking the back of buildings and a road so we didn’t sit out there at all.There was not enough storage space for all our clothing, no full length mirror and no coffee making facilities. The bathroom didn’t have full size toiletries and they didn’t even provide hair conditioner which I thought was bizarre. Around the pool, it would have been nice to have waiter service to take our drinks order rather than have to order at the bar. All in all the hotel is nice, staff are lovely and we had a lovely stay. Would I stay again? Maybe as the location is so good and the staff are so lovely. But it’s lacking in some of the details and comforts you would expect from a 5 star hotel. All they need to do is update the rooms and provide a better breakfast and it would have been a perfect stay.

First impressions count and when we checked in the staff were friendly and helpful but our room wasn't ready as we arrived before the stated check in time. However we were given a welcome drink by the pool and our room was ready in half an hour and our luggage was waiting for us in the room. Brilliant customer service. We stayed in room 118 which is on the first floor. A lift is available. The room had a lovely view of the garden, a king size bed and a bathroom with good sized shower. The room had great air-conditioning which was definitely needed, a decent sized wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers and a safe. There was a good selection at breakfast. I really enjoyed the fresh fruit and yogurt, they also had peanut butter which is a holiday treat. They also had hot food and cakes/pastries. The pool was great for swimming and was never over crowded. We never had a problem getting a sunbed but the hotel has put up notices that belongings will be moved to reception after an hour if the sunbed is unoccupied which seems to have helped. The staff are all helpful and friendly. It is a short 10 min walk to the town and slightly longer to the port where there are a range of restaurants, bars and shops. We would happily return.

While this hotel may not have a gym or spa, it offers a convenient location near the town for easy exploration. Guests are encouraged to embrace their inner strength by handling their luggage independently upon arrival. The pool area provides a rustic charm with its worn tiles, adding age character to the overall ambiance. Breakfast may lack variety, but it's a great opportunity to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. And who needs a limited lunch menu when there are endless dining options waiting to be discovered outside the hotel? While the hotel may not have reached a 5-star rating, the pool staff shines bright like a diamond with their standout service. The dated appearance of the hotel adds a touch of nostalgia, reminding guests of simpler times. In-room amenities like slow hairdryers and the absence of tissues only add to the authentic experience. A comprehensive revamp may be necessary to meet the standards of a top-tier establishment, but in the meantime, guests can enjoy the quirky charm and make unforgettable memories.
