Not luxury at all, needs lots of refurbishing

30 Sep 2024
We previously visited Kos and stayed in their Mitsis Blue Domes Resort and LOVED it. Thought we would try Mitsis Rodos Maris the following year. It was slightly cheaper but still an expensive holiday averaging at about £1,300pp for a weeks all inclusive stay. Rooms - On arrival we were escorted right to edge of the hotel near the tennis courts and were given the most tired, dirty, and run down room we’ve ever stayed in instead of the luxury room we’d hoped. I have inserted pictures below. The pictures on their website feel misleading. There were numerous problems including the shower leaking over the floor with a disgusting shower curtain, mould around the edge of the bath, and bugs. The bedroom floor was filthy and even after a shower our feet were covered in dirt (see photo). There were barely any plug sockets and those that existed were hanging out of the wall. We’d also paid extra for a sea view which wasn’t a sea view and instead overlooked a main road with the sea far far away in the distance. We went to reception and they changed our rooms the following morning however even the ‘upgraded’ room was quite tired and nothing compared to Blue Domes in Kos. Housekeeping also didn’t do much, I think our sheets were changed once the entire week. Food - Breakfast is nice, covers most things and quite standard. The remaining buffet (ie lunch and dinner) wasn’t great, everything tasted salty and bland. The a la carte restaurants are okay but compared to Blue Domes felt a bit cheap and were not particularly flavoursome. You can also only go to each a la carte once per week which wasn’t the case when we went to Kos despite it still being advertised as a “premium all inclusive”. The gyro shack is nice as is the pizza on the beach (although the staff serving the pizza were very miserable and had a tendency to just serve margarita as if they couldn’t be bothered to make anything different). Drinks - Pretty good, all sorts of cocktails and drinks were strong. My partner liked the beers too and we liked that drinks were available everywhere (pool, beach, bar). The wine isn’t great but we expected this. Facilities - The pool itself is nice however tiles round the pool are very tired and it needs a bit revamp if they are continuing to charge high end prices. The tiles are cracked and some are loose which was a safety risk (see photo). The beach itself is also lovely but again, the wooden path has loose bits of wood which could be a safety risk. The sunbeds are cheap and often ping up whenever you move however saying that, there are plenty and we never struggled to get a bed by the beach or the pool. Transport - There is a bus that goes to Lindos which was handy though Rhodes town is not close by (though we did know this so not a complaint). Entertainment - Again, very standard, same as most all inclusive hotels. Overall we had a nice time but felt we paid above and beyond what it was worth. I think if you’re going to a Mitsis you need to go to their ‘top of the range’ hotel as this is where they invest all their money. We wouldn’t go to any of the smaller hotels again.

Looked stunning but very let down

30 Jun 2024
The hotel and rooms looked nothing like the photos, ants in the rooms as well which the staff didn’t care about (I’ve seen now many mentions of ants so no wonder they didn’t care). Main food area was primary school like, although the a la carte restaurants were good. After dinner drinks had queues of up to 20 people at a time! And to say the drinks tasted watered down is an understatement. Pizza bar, crepe bar and the beach bar were all good… felt like we had to stock up on pizza as the dinners were awful 😂

Wonderful experience

31 Oct 2024
We had read the reviews beforehand so knew not to expect a top end 5-star experience, but for the price we paid we were ok with that. The check in experience was a bit busman's holiday but once we had got to our room and settled in it was all worth it. We stayed in a bungalow with a sea view and had a lovely balcony and private entrance away from the main hotel. The service was good, the food great and the atmosphere of the place just what we wanted. Quiet and relaxed and lots of grounds so it felt really spacious. Our experience may have been due to the fact the hotel closed for the end of season on our last day so throughout the week it got quieter and quieter which suited us. We also always got a sun lounger by the pool and at the beach and always were able to sit outside in the restaurant. The beach is wonderful and we hired a car to explore the island. We would definitely go back to Rhodes and to this hotel as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

THE WORST HOTEL IN EXISTENCE

31 Oct 2024
THE WORST HOTEL EVER: If you’re planning on going to this hotel, DO NOT. We checked in, and checked out 2 hours later. Upon check in, there was absolutely no guest care at all. ‘Some’ guests had hot towels and a welcome drink, others got nothing, like we did. A rude receptionist, who didn’t care. We booked a bungalow garden view, to be taken to a room that had stairs… do you understand what a bungalow is? After complaining about this, as this is an upgrade we paid for; we were told that this was a bungalow room with a garden view (not a bungalow room and no garden view), when we insisted that it wasn’t, we were told that there were no bungalows available?… how are you overbooking our room and then downgrading us? After changing rooms 2/3 times, they ‘upgraded’ us to a family bungalow which was horrific, but after 30 hours of travelling we decided to give it a shot. To find ants infested in the room, the floor drain covers in the room were leaking, outdated furniture, outdated everything. Just about a 1* hotel, I’ve stayed in nicer travel lodges in my life. Complaining to the guest relations manager, she knew this hotel was downhill as she knew as soon as we walked back in, that we weren’t going to be happy. The hotel agreed verbally to refund us our tax money and that when loveholidays reached out to them, they would refund our hotel booking for unused nights as were only in the hotel for 2 hours. Upon returning back home, they have refused to refund love holidays or us, which is absolutely ridiculous. The hotel is shabby, old and if you want a poor experience; then go here! The amenities upon walking around the grounds are awful, the bars/restaurants looked horrific and we wouldn’t wish this hotel on our enemies. Honestly would rather stay in a prison cell for a week rather than this place. Look at the photos for yourself and all 3 rooms we went into, were the exact same… how this place is rated 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor baffles me, either people are deluded or just do not understand what luxury is. AVOID this joke of a place at all costs, and go up the road to the Atlantica dreams for a true 5* experience.

Lovely family holiday- A lot to like

30 Nov 2024
We visited Mitsis Rodos in half term and were a little concerned after reading mixed reviews. On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and we were treated to welcome drinks before a buggy took us to our room. Now a lot of people have been critical of the rooms but ours was a clean, modern bungalow. Plenty of room for us 4 and beds were comfy and the air conditioning was excellent. Main good parts we found were the lovely beach which had an excellent all inclusive bar and served snacks and also the pizza oven on the beach was a nice touch. The Greek bar served lovely gyros, the crepes served at the hotel were lovely and we quite enjoyed the speciality restaurants. On the whole the staff were very friendly and Elizabeth in the main lobby bar was amazing although one waiter in the Mexican restaurant was very rude. I also thought there was a decent choice of drinks available on the all inclusive. Downsides- breakfast in the buffet restaurant was nice but we felt the evening meals lacked a bit of variation and quality. We have also used many salt water swimming pools on previous visits to other hotels but the salt water in this pool was borderline vile. In summary. There is so much to like about Mitsis Rodos. It's just with a few bits being dated it is unworthy of a 5 star rating. We got a very good last minute deal and were very happy with the hotel for what we paid but if you visited expecting 5 star total luxury you may end up being disappointed.
