February Half Term
February lands in peak season for Sri Lanka’s southwest regions. This is a great time of year to visit the west and south coast and other destinations such as Yala National Park, the Cultural Triangle and the Hill Country.
Easter
The whole island experiences excellent weather conditions throughout April, which is usually a busy month for tourism. This is a great time to stay in a beach resort or explore other destinations such as Horton Plains National Park and Nuwara Eliya’s tea estates.
May Half Term
For sunny, dry weather conditions, it’s best to visit the northern regions and the east coast. The Cultural Triangle and Kandy also experience pleasant weather conditions in May.
Summer
You’ll experience minimal rainfall and sunny days between July–August in the northeast regions. This is a great time to visit the Jaffna peninsula, Trincomalee, and Arugam Bay.
October Half Term
October is a quiet month as it lands in the inter-monsoon season, so rainfall is common across the whole country. The Cultural Triangle is the driest region during this time, although it still experiences some rain.
Christmas & New Year
December marks the start of peak season in southwest regions, so prices rise but weather conditions are excellent. This is a fantastic time to visit Galla, Hikkaduwa, Negombo and other southwest destinations.
