Some places are beautiful. Some places make you feel welcome. And then there are places like Kandooma—where both come together so effortlessly that you don’t just visit, you belong. My partner and I came with high expectations. We left with something deeper. The warmth of the staff, the care in every detail, the feeling of being truly looked after—it’s rare to experience this level of hospitality. One moment will stay with me forever. We had planned a shark dive, something I had dreamed of for years—to face my fear and finally see them up close. But I got seasick on the way there. Without hesitation, the crew brought me to a nearby island, where a family member of the crew took care of us, carried my bags, and even invited us for lunch. When we returned to Kandooma, the activity manager, Dimu, and the hotel doctor were already waiting. They checked on me, gave me medicine, and made sure I was okay. This kind of care wasn’t an exception—it’s how things are here. Every meal was outstanding, with fresh, thoughtful dishes. Every staff member was kind, professional, and intuitive. They see what you need before you ask. The activities made the stay even more special. Surfing was possible, even in February. The Perfect Wave team, which includes Steve, Minerl, and Courtney, made the experience unforgettable. Steve is pure energy—charismatic, knowledgeable, and passionate about getting everyone into the best waves, making sure every surf session is fun, safe, and suited to each surfer’s level. Minerl brings a calm steady presence. And then there’s Courtney, whose yoga sessions added another layer to our stay. She is a truly gifted instructor, balancing challenge and relaxation with ease. Paddleboard yoga was playful and surprisingly tough, while sunrise yin yoga felt almost surreal. The ocean stretched out endlessly, the sky turned soft pink and deep red, and a baby shark swam by. Another highlight was getting my Open Water Dive PADI certification. My instructor, Nick, made the experience smooth and enjoyable. I felt well taken care of, and his clear, patient communication made every step feel manageable. He encouraged me to push through and master each skill with confidence. Shawn and Luka were also incredibly supportive—always kind, helpful, and full of positive energy. We shared plenty of laughs, and the vibe throughout my dive sessions was amazing. We left feeling full—not just with good food and great experiences, but with the sense that we had found a place we truly connected with. Kandooma is more than a resort. It’s somewhere we’ll return to, again and again.
