We stayed at Helea Beach Resort between September 22–27 with an all-inclusive package. Unfortunately, our holiday started with a big disappointment. Just one day before our arrival, we received an email saying we would have to spend the first night at Pegasos Hotel instead of Helea. No clear reason was given. Pegasos was described as “same quality,” but it was clearly a 4-star hotel and nowhere near Helea’s standard. We arrived at Pegasos around 11 AM. Our room wasn’t ready, and we were left waiting in the lobby for hours — only receiving our room at 2 PM after repeatedly asking. We even contacted Helea, but nothing changed. Spending the first day tired and sitting in the lobby was really upsetting. The next day, Helea sent a taxi for the transfer, but due to poor communication, the driver asked us to pay. Once we finally arrived at Helea, the difference between the two hotels was obvious — more elegant, luxurious, and stylish. However, no one at reception knew about our situation, and we had to explain everything again. Thanks to a helpful receptionist, our room was ready earlier than promised, which we appreciated. As an apology, we received a room upgrade to a deluxe sea view suite and VIP breakfast access. The VIP breakfast was disappointing: same fixed plates every day, and simple requests like fries or pastries were not available. Drink selection was also weak for a 5-star resort — no Chivas whisky, and ouzo was only available at the bar, not in the restaurant. Some Ammouda Bar staff were unprofessional; one even made an inappropriate joke when I ordered a cocktail. On the other hand, Soroni Bar staff were excellent, even making cocktails not on the menu. The buffet restaurant was great: tasty food, plenty of variety, and polite staff. Tsouka à la carte restaurant was also a highlight — peaceful lunch by the sea with delicious fish and meze. Special thanks to Anna Maria for helping us with Rhodes Old Town tips. The beach was beautiful — crystal clear, sandy, calm — perfect for swimming with fish. But cleaning service was poor: some days rooms were not cleaned until 3 PM, and minibar items weren’t restocked unless we called reception. Overall, Helea has a lovely beach, good food, and some excellent staff. But the lack of communication, the stressful first night, poor cleaning service, and some unprofessional behavior didn’t match the price. I hope they improve their service, because the location itself is amazing.
