Grand Kaptan

I was so pleased that I chose Grand Kaptan hotel for my holiday. Pleasant employees and the good quality of the services made the stay an enjoyable vacation experience. The Spa:I truly enjoyed was the massage service. The massage therapist KADEK was very kind and professional, he provided an exceptional service with his firm, medical massages that were incredibly relaxing. This was a highlight of my stay! Kadek was fantastic - such an amazing massage. Hit all the right places and my only disappointment was when it finished. 😊 he is one of the loveliest humans you could meet! Thank you, Kadek! Not happy that there was no WiFi The hotel only offers WiFi in the lobby. In today's world, having free, accessible WiFi throughout the hotel is a standard expectation, especially for a hotel that claims to be 5-star. This was a significant inconvenience during my stay.

It may have been a 5 star hotel 20 years ago, but it is certainly not now, 3 at best. 8 out of the 9 of us who travelled together were sick in the first 5 days. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever & bloating. We were far from the only ones and are quite used to travelling. We had no ice in the drinks and used bottled water to brush our teeth. Antibacterial gel and hand washing before and after eating. The rep told us on the first day not to swallow the pool water, especially in the slide pool. My young daughter was sick in the restaurant at breakfast one day, not one member of staff came to help me until I shouted for assistance and I was told to just leave it there. Not one person asked if she was ok. That same day there was no hand soap or sanitiser in the toilets opposite the restaurant ALL day. When I went to reception to report it in the evening, I was told the night manager was too busy and my issue wasn't important enough. The day after we saw two ambulances taking people off to hospital. The staff would get really defensive at any mention of the hotel being at fault for the sickness bug, but were not actively doing much to help prevent its spread. Better cleaning of the pools and toilet areas for one. I'm aware that AI dining can feel repetitive but in other hotels we have visited there has at least been a variety of the main meals. The food here was pretty much the same every day (different meat but that was about it) and not kept hot enough. One day my daughter had uncooked rice on her plate, thankfully didn't eat it!! Snack choices outside of main mealtimes were very limited (cake, ice cream or bread). And nothing from 4-7. The pools should have been closed from 8pm to 8am for cleaning, but there was always people in it. There was very little chlorine in the pool which won't have helped contain a bug. The floor around the pool was very slippery and I saw many people fall and hurt themselves. It wasn't the cleanest but to be fair to the pool staff, this wasn't helped by lazy guests. The lifeguard in the slide pool was often MIA and it didn't feel safe. The beach bar was better, the staff were by far the friendliest from the hotel (lovely Mustafa!) and whilst not a lot of choice, the food was really nice. Watching the sun go down at the bar with a glass of wine was lovely. People do reserve beds early round the pool but we didn't have an issue getting some together most days. The beach sand is made up of fairly sharp stones, which is manageable and not so sharp once you reach the sea, although the beach itself is full of litter and cigarette butts (again lazy guests). There is a jetty reserved for hotel guests (beds are an additional charge) which was fun for the kids to jump in and snorkle. There would be a lot of non hotel residents there in the afternoon which the security guard tried to control but not very well. Watch out for the staples sticking out of the wood where the non slip flooring used to be. There is only WiFi in the lobby, which was unexpected for a 5* hotel. €22 for 2 weeks. Entertainment was in an area out of the front of the hotel, it was very hot and only on for about an hour each night. We only went once, it just wasn't worth it. And they definitely need to learn a new dance song! The rooms were clean enough but very dated. Our shower head was broken, and on one day the plug got stuck. They were quick to send someone up to fix it but it did the same again later that day so we just took it out. There was a raw edge on the floor on the way out of the bathroom which I covered with a towel every day to stop my children hurting themselves. The aircon worked well enough when we left the key in all day, but was loud. Not sure when it was last cleaned. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet felt horrible and the minibar fridge so old it was barely worth keeping anything in it. The hotel is very close to neighbouring hotels in places, their balconies looked directly into our rooms. There are only 3 lifts for 5 floors and they are so small and slow. We took the stairs most days. There is a shuttle bus into Alanya and they get very very busy in the evenings, with guests pushing and shoving to get a place. Not a pleasant experience but thankfully only a 5/10 minute drive. Memo's restaurant in Alanya was lovely and the All Natural shop was fabulous, the staff so friendly and the reas and turkish delight were so tasty! Needless to say we won't be returning.

I was very undecided about choosing a hotel at first, but I was so pleased that I chose Grand Kaptan that I decided to extend my holiday. The friendliness of the employees and the quality of the services offered by the hotel are worth the money you pay.

My recent stay at the Grand Kaptan Hotel in Alanya was quite disappointing, with only a few positives to note. Here are some of the key issues that made my stay less than enjoyable: Poor WiFi Service: The hotel only offers WiFi in the lobby, and even then, the connection was unreliable and slow. In today's world, having free, accessible WiFi throughout the hotel is a standard expectation, especially for a hotel that claims to be 5-star. This was a significant inconvenience during my stay. Unfriendly Staff: The restaurant manager, along with several employees, were quite rude and unwelcoming. It was clear that the staff did not enjoy their jobs, and this lack of enthusiasm and customer service greatly affected the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Serious Food Safety Concerns: Unfortunately, we experienced significant food-related issues during our stay. We saw multiple guests getting sick, and my family and I also fell ill after eating at the hotel's restaurant. We suffered from vomiting and diarrhea for several days, which was both distressing and unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about the hotel's food hygiene and safety standards. Limited Entertainment for Kids: One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was for its advertised mini club and children's entertainment. However, there was a notable lack of activities for kids. While my children did enjoy the swimming pools and slides, the slides were only open during specific hours (9-11 AM and 2-4 PM), and the pool was closed for an entire day during our stay. This was very disappointing and did not meet our expectations. Not Truly All-Inclusive: The hotel fails to live up to its all-inclusive promise. Between 4-7 PM, there were no snacks or food available, and from 11 AM to 4 PM, the only snack option was flatbread. There were no healthier options such as fruit. I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts around the world, and this was by far the worst in terms of food availability and variety. The One Bright Spot - The Spa: The only aspect of my stay that I truly enjoyed was the massage service. The massage therapists, Pebri and Dayu, were both kind and professional. Pebri, in particular, provided exceptional service with her firm, medical massages that were incredibly relaxing and well-executed. This was a highlight of my otherwise disappointing stay. Overall, the Grand Kaptan Hotel does not live up to its 5-star rating and certainly does not offer a true all-inclusive experience. I would not recommend this hotel due to the poor WiFi, unfriendly staff, serious food safety issues, limited entertainment, and lack of proper all-inclusive amenities. However, if you are looking for a good massage, Pebri and Dayu at the spa are fantastic. Nonetheless, the negatives far outweigh this small positive, and I would advise looking elsewhere for a more enjoyable and reliable vacation experience.

Wel.... we arrived Friday 23rd August for 7 days. When we got to Grand Kaptan the hotel was very dated and dark in the main Lobby. It was night time so we though its because it late. We get up to our room and it's like something from the 90's it's all dark and old looking, this is a meant to be a 5star hotel!!! Absolutely not, more like a 3 star. The whole hotel was just dated and boring. The pool area was nice, but very dirty and no entertainment in the day for the kids, other than the kids club. 2 days in and we have VD 3 of us sick like pigs, stayed in the room for 2 days- someone was sick in the restaurant right by the food 😑 and it was just cleaned. The hygiene is poor. We never ate in there the Rest of holiday. Someone pooed in the pool, and was shut untill the next day, but was never cleaned and just scopped out 😫. Everyone in the hotel seemed to have the same sickness and dihaorria. Some people loved this hotel and have mixed reviews on here. I have been to many hotels and some 3 stars beat this one hands down. Sadly we will definitely not be returning.
