I rely on reviews so wanted to give my honest viewpoint. I stayed here for 4 nights with my teenage son. There were things we liked, and definite room for improvement. If I could have given it a 3.5 I would have. The good 1- the rooms were recently renovated and very nice. We did take cold showers our first night, but thankfully never had an issue again 2- the pool areas are very nice and well maintained. There is always someone cleaning and there are plenty of seats around the pool and beach. You don’t have to claim chairs super early which was a nice change from other resorts we’ve stayed at. The pool at the Caribe was smaller and quieter with a more upscale feel. The pool at Royal Solaris was more active and where we spent most of our time. 3- we really enjoyed their nightly shows. They were better quality than we’ve seen at other resorts. 4- the views can’t be beat. From the pools to the restaurants, I loved all the water views. 5- the restaurants are all very pretty in terms of decor and the service is solid across the board. The bad 1- we were not impressed with the food. I appreciated the variety of restaurants and the upscale menu offerings, but the food usually fell short on taste. Don’t get me wrong, we never went hungry, but the food was pretty much just ok. Buffets- We were surprised that the buffets were on the smaller size for the resort size. The one at Caribe is really small, but ok if you just want to grab something quick. The one at Royal Solaris is bigger, but still not huge. With that said, we loved the made to order quesadillas at breakfast. Snack bars/pizza- it’s nice to be able to grab and go while at the pool. No major complaints other than the repetitiveness. It was fine for us, but I can imagine it getting pretty old, pretty fast for people staying longer. Bogovante- We had dinner and lunch here, but lunch was much more enjoyable than dinner. At dinner we both had the rib eye. While I don’t expect their meat quality to be the same as in the US, it wasn’t a very good cut and they try to hide that by covering it in a sauce that wasn’t very good. The Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, tuna tostados and fajitas at lunch were very good. My son enjoyed the catch of the day but had to push the cheese sauce to the side. Marco Polo- we had high hopes, but like with most other restaurants, the food was just mid. All in, it was probably our least favorite dinner. The escargot were a bit dry, the onion soup was too sweet, and my filet was supposed to have blue cheese but I couldn’t taste even a hint of it. My son liked the duck confit well enough, but there’s very little and the couscous it’s served with is pretty awful. The creme brûlée was the best part of our meal. Veneto- was definitely our favorite. We had the trio of bruschetta, caprese salad, mushroom soup and linguine with seafood. The seafood was maybe a little overcooked, but it was very tasty. Rosmarinas- we only tried the lunch buffet and usually made one small plate and left. Again, there wasn’t a ton offered. My son did enjoy the hibachi steak one day, but then really didn’t enjoy the made to order pasta. I usually stuck with soup and salad and then we supplemented from the snack bar. 2- they have a dilapidated tennis court on the Caribe side. I really think that’s a missed opportunity. They should make that into a multi sport court with pickleball, basketball, soccer, etc… 3- it would be nice to have more for teens. Even an area with a pool table and ping pong would be an improvement. 4- the resort is kind of sleepy at night. Some people would see that as a pro, but we thought it was a little boring. All in all, we had a very nice time. It was great getting away for a few days and enjoying the sun. If I’m being honest though, I don’t think we’d return because of the food.
