Golden Sun Resort & Spa

We have just returned from a week's stay at Golden Sun Resort in October. We stayed in a room with a private pool. The resort itself is very beautiful and is kept spotlessly clean. Despite there being only 21 rooms, the communal pool is massive and there are plenty of sun beds on which to laze. The staff at the resort deserve great credit. They were always smiling and happy to be of service in any way. The a la carte breakfast was something to which we were very much looking forward. Although the setting and service each morning made it memorable, the food itself was not as tasty as anticipated. For example, the scrambled eggs lacked seasoning and were very bland. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our week at the resort and were impressed with many aspects of our stay.

This was our first visit to the Golden Sun Resort and Spa having looked a couple of years earlier when staying at a nearby hotel. In terms of the wow factor, it certainly doesn’t disappoint with the highlight being one of the largest private pools we have ever seen at a hotel. Cleanliness around the resort, including the rooms is excellent. In terms of hotel amenities, it’s basic with a standard kettle in the room, daily replenished water, single use toiletries and daily replenished tea and coffee. Towels including beach towels are provided and changed daily alongside robes and slippers. A small investment in a coffee pod machine, higher grade toiletries and usb/usbc points would go a long way to making everything perfect and on par with many 4* and 5* hotels. Regardless though this didn’t have a negative impact on our stay and the complimentary bottle of wine and welcome glass of Prosecco was a wonderful touch. The breakfast was certainly one of the highlights of our stay, served a la carte by a wonderful staff team who are always willing to make adaptations to the menu. Whilst we didn’t use the main pool it was again perhaps one of the largest in the area with very comfortable sun loungers and plenty of space around the bar for reasonably priced cocktails and snacks. We will certainly return again when visiting Zakynthos in the future.

Fantastic rooms in a great location. We had a private pool room which was lovely. The main pool and pool bar area were quiet,no rushing for beds,nice chilled area. Room was spotless and cleaned daily. All staff really friendly and helpful especially Michael and Maria at breakfast. The breakfast is really good with plenty of choice. Beach is 2 minutes away and main strip 5 mins walk. We had a really nice relaxing time and would recommend to anyone.

Everything about these apartments was fantastic. Water and wine in the room on arrival, with a glass of bubbles delivered to the room 2 minutes after our cases. The room was absolutely spotless, air conditioned, plenty of toiletries, clean towels (bath and beach), bottled water and tea/coffee daily. Bed was super comfy. The al a carte breakfast was very good, lots of choice and filled us up so much we only ate lunch a couple of times. Michael and Maria were lovely, really friendly and knew our regular breakfast order by day 3! Stella at the pool bar was lovely to chat to, very knowledgeable about the area and made a great cocktail. Every member of the team was exceptionally professional and lovely. The room with private pool was so peaceful but worth mentioning not heated. Yes, planes go over, however we were fascinated by them rather than impacted and you stop noticing. Located a 60 second walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the main street. Would we go back again....absolutely!

Fantastic experience from beginning to end of the holiday. Maria and Michael are wonderful, nothing is too big of an ask. Rooms are great, all you need, nice and private with the pool and have the added luxury to be round the hotel pool if wanted. Will 100% be returning, just a bit later in the year as wasn’t warm enough in May for us.
