Ixia is situated on the northwest coast of Rhodes, 6 km, or a 10-minute drive, from Rhodes’s main town. The typical flight time from London to Ixia is just over 4 hours if flying directly. Transfers such as shuttle services and private taxis will take between 10-20 minutes from Rhodes International Airport (RHO) to Ixia.

Nightlife in Ixia offers a good mix of bars, hosting a variety of entertainment and lively venues to keep the atmosphere going. Some establishments offer live music and dance performances, while others create a lively atmosphere with DJs. Most of the activities take place on the seafront along Ixia beach. Glory Days Sports Bar & Grill and Keep It Simple, open until 1am, are great options for a night out. The Double Deuce Live Music Bar transforms into a dance club after sunset, and you can expect neon-lit shows, live performances and a clothing shop for an extra dose of fun.

In Ixia, you'll be spoilt for choice with a host of chic restaurants and taverns to suit all tastes. Soak up Italian culture at Al Pomodoro, which specialises in Italian cuisine, and indulge in a range of pasta dishes, pizzas and mozzarella delights. The restaurant offers a warm atmosphere and friendly service.

For a traditional Greek taverna, head to Alexis Taverna, tucked away behind Sachtouri beach. Its warm atmosphere invites customers to come and sample authentic Greek dishes. Indulge in freshly prepared seafood, grilled meats and classic Greek appetisers called mezes.

To dine in front of stunning seascapes, try Ammades Seaside restaurant, located near Ixia beach. Be sure to try its Mediterranean-inspired dishes or tasty seafood.

Ixia has plenty of shopping opportunities, from local markets and boutiques to air-conditioned shopping centres. Lalyssos Avenue is Ixia's main street, lined with many chic shops and boutiques. You'll find a wide range of goods, including clothes, accessories, souvenirs and beachwear. While Ixia is known for its beautiful coastal scenery, it may not be the best destination for surfing. The conditions here are typically more suited for other water activities, such as windsurfing or kiteboarding, taking advantage of the strong wind swells in the area. Your best bet is to travel to Rhodes or nearby islands for a real surfing experience. Prasonisi Beach, in particular, welcomes surfers to ride waves on its astonishing waters, offering better conditions for surfing enthusiasts.

After windsurfing, sailing is the most popular water sports activity on Ixia. Its calm, sapphire waters are perfectly matched by the northerly winds of the Meltemi, allowing you to sail at your leisure and explore the surrounding islands and secluded coves. For your sailing adventure, visit one of the boat hire and charter services located closer to Rhodes, a short distance from Ixia. Golf in Ixia

Ixia is not primarily known for golf, but it provides two mini-golf courses for leisure for families and couples. Mini Golf & Farmhouse Pub plus Olympic Palace Mini Golf are both set on opposite sides of the main beach in Ixia.

The closest 18-hole golf course, Afandou Golf Course, is approximately 20 kilometres away from Ixia. The golf course features stunning views of the surrounding landscapes of botanical grasslands and a turquoise lagoon creating majestic settings for any pro golfer.

Cycling & mountain biking in Ixia

Discover the island on two wheels. Although Ixia has no dedicated roads for cyclists, you can still enjoy its unspoilt scenery. The olive-green terrain offers quiet rural areas in the main part of Rhodes, and you can cycle through charming villages and sky-blue coastal roads. If you forget to bring your own bike, there are plenty of bike hire shops along the back roads of Ixia beach.

Here you'll find historic streets and ancient monuments, ideal for exploring on foot. If you fancy a refreshing hike, the surrounding area is full of hiking trails that abound with mountainous terrain, picturesque viewpoints and hidden valleys, with most likely some sort of ancient ruin along the way!
