Visit Chora, Mykonos Town

No visit to Mykonos would be complete without discovering the enchanting charm of Chora or Mykonos Town, as it is also known. You'll marvel at the town's charm as you stroll through the shady lanes winding between traditional white-walled buildings. Stop for a spot of shopping in a quaint boutique or to sample food and drink in a taverna. As you stroll along, you won't want to miss Mykonos' famous windmills, which are well worth a visit. These well-preserved buildings used to use the cool Mykonos winds to crush wheat and cereals, but today they offer a great photo opportunity.

Witness the sunset in Little Venice

One of the most famous spots on Mykonos is the area known as Little Venice. The traditional Cycladic-style houses, with their cubic shape and narrow windows, are located on the water's edge, like the canals of Venice. The houses and their balconies are brightly coloured, and a visit to this part of the city is sure to provide plenty of photo opportunities. As well as the architecture, Little Venice is renowned for being an ideal place to watch the sun gently descend into the Aegean Sea. If you plan to do this from one of the bars or restaurants on the waterfront, we recommend you book in advance, as it gets very crowded.

Boat trip to Ancient Delos

If you want to get away from the beach, a boat trip to the neighbouring island of Delos is highly recommended. The small uninhabited island is a World Heritage Site and was one of the main political powers of ancient Greece. Numerous remains from this bygone era are waiting to be explored. A museum exhibits a number of ancient artefacts and provides a wealth of interesting information. Boats depart daily from Mykonos for Delos and we highly recommend adding a visit to your holiday itinerary.

Tour a Greek vineyard

Mykonos enjoys some of the most favourable conditions for wine production in the whole of Greece. Its rich soil, light winds and mild winters allow abundant harvests of the best grapes, which are transformed into delicious wines such as Athiri, Assyrtiko and Mandilari. We strongly recommend that you include a visit to a vineyard during your stay. This will include a guided tour of the facilities and, of course, a tasting at the end of your visit. It's probably best not to plan too much for the rest of the day.
