Mastihari Beach

Mastihari beach is a pristine stretch of white sand bathed by a crystal-clear sea. At 5km long, this popular beach is sheltered from the prevailing winds by shady dunes and palm trees. The beach is clean and family-friendly, with all the amenities you would expect, including sun loungers and parasols, showers, toilets and plenty of places to buy food and drink. The sea is warm and many places offer windsurfing and kitesurfing lessons, as well as equipment hire. Thanks to its westerly exposure, it's also a great place to watch stunning sunsets while sipping cocktails or enjoying dinner.

Kamari Beach

Situated =on the south-west coast, Kamari beach is a perfect gem, easily accessible from Mastihari. The beach is divided in two by a small stone jetty that local fishing boats and small yachts use to moor up, providing a picturesque backdrop to the area. The left-hand side of the beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles, while the right-hand side is more rocky. The 5km-long beach exudes an air of tranquillity and is an ideal place to relax with a drink and a bite to eat in one of the traditional tavernas overlooking this magnificent stretch of coastline.

Agios Stefanos Beach

Not far from Mastihari, near the southern tip of the island, Agios Stefanos Beach is one of the most visited places on Kos. It is a sand and pebble beach with shallow warm waters ideal for families with young children. Plenty of sun beds are avilable for hire along with all the usual water activities. What make the beach stand out are the stunning views across to the nearby island of Kastri with its ancient ruins and picture-perfect blue and white Greek chapel. The island is easily reached by a short swim, or if you don’t fancy that hire a pedalo and pedal your way across.

Marmari Beach

In our opinion, the magnificent sandy beach of Marmari is one of the best on the island. Just a stone's throw from Mastihari, this beach has all the amenities you'd expect: there are plenty of hotels backing onto the sand with sun loungers for hire, plenty of showers and toilets, and plenty of bars and cafés where you can have lunch. The beach is also renowned for windsurfing and kitesurfing, with several companies offering lessons and equipment hire. Surprisingly, despite its popularity, the beach is rarely crowded and you'll always find a secluded spot among the dunes for a picnic or simply to soak up the sunshine.

Tigaki Beach

Just a few minutes from Mastihari, on the north coast of Kos, lies the popular Tigaki beach. This 10km stretch of sand is ideal for families, as the surrounding sea is warm, shallow and calm. Be aware, however, that you have to cross a strip of shale before entering the water, so we recommend that you wear suitable footwear. The beach is well served by facilities and there are plenty of sunbeds available, but it can be a little windy and getting out the beach towel can be a fun activity. If you are planning to visit Tigaki beach, be aware that the western end is reserved for nude sunbathing and is best avoided if you are uncomfortable.
