Best beaches in Gouvia

In the centre of Gouvia is a small but perfectly formed beach of sand and pebbles, with breathtaking views of the Kommeno peninsula and its tiny Greek church. The other beaches in the area nestle at the foot of steep cliffs or are surrounded by lush green forests, as if they belonged in Indonesia rather than on a Greek island. Most beaches are a mixture of pebbles and sand. It is therefore advisable to wear suitable footwear, especially in the water.

Top beaches in Gouvia

Gouvia Beach

At the heart of the beach resort of Gouvia lies the small beach of the same name. This little gem is a mixture of pebbles and sand in a warm, clear sea. All the usual amenities are available, including plenty of parasols and sun loungers for hire, as well as a multitude of water sports activities to choose from and numerous boat trips departing from the small marina. Gouvia beach also offers one of the best views on the island, looking out over the magnificent Kommeno peninsula, at the top of which sits the small but beautiful church of Ypantis, dating from 1713.

Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach is undoubtedly one of the island's most enchanting beaches, a perfectly formed natural gem situated at the foot of a steep rock face. Behind the village of Liapades, this thin strip of sand is only accessible by boat, which only adds to its charm. You can join scheduled boat trips from several of the island's resorts, including Gouvia, but we recommend hiring your own boat from the nearby village of Paleokastritsa. You can drive the boat yourself or hire one with a competent skipper on board. It costs around €120 for six hours. Whichever you choose, we strongly recommend that you include Paradise Beach in your holiday itinerary.

Porto Timoni Beach

Sheltered by tree-covered rocky outcrops, the beach at Porto Timoni is as though it had been shipped all the way from Indonesia. The beach is absolutely stunning and well worth a visit, although it does take some effort to get there. Access to the rocky enclave is only possible via a fairly steep, stony path, which takes around 20 minutes to negotiate. Water taxis can also take you there, but you won't have the chance to admire the breathtaking views from the top of the cliff.

Agios Gordios Beach

Set in a breathtaking mountain landscape, Agios Gordios beach is a true coastal paradise. Framed by a landscape of perfect hills, Agios Gordios is one of Corfu's most popular beaches. Set in a bay, the beach is protected from the winds, meaning its waters are calm, clear and safe. Served by a range of facilities, including restaurants and bars, it's a great place to soak up the Ionian sun or splash around in the bluest sea. We highly recommend adding a visit to Agios Gordios to your holiday wish list.

Ipsos Beach

The long pebble beach at Ipsos is an ideal place to spend the day relaxing. The warm, clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The beach is a sun trap, ideal for sunbathing, and the nearby restaurants and bars are the perfect place to sample local specialities. The beach is rocky, so it's advisable to bring footwear to protect your feet and make it easier to get around. The beach is also uncrowded, which means it's not overcrowded and is ideal for those who prefer a little space when spending time by the sea.
