Things to do in Dassia

Best beaches in Dassia

Nightlife in Dassia is a mixture of lounge bars, pubs and traditional tavernas as well as trendy clubs catering for all tastes of music. Dassia’s location also makes it ideal to explore some of the top night spots on the island. Located right on the Dassia shoreline is one of the most popular clubs in Corfu, the EDEM Beach Club. Famed for its extravagant cocktails and crazy themed parties the club also makes use of its beach location with sun loungers providing an alternative to traditional seating. Other popular clubs include, Yard Club, 54 Dreamy Nights, Amaze Bar and Montecristo; all offer top quality music played by celebrity DJ’s and will definitely keep you dancing from sunset till dawn.

A holiday to Greece is all about sunshine and great food, and with its mixture of traditional and international cuisine, Dassia delivers in spades. Amongst the many cafes and restaurants in Dassia we have singled a few here that are, in our opinion, a little bit special. Family run Alexandros Taverna is the place for hearty Greek food served in a friendly atmosphere with after dinner dancing available most nights. For stunning views whilst you dine then Andreas House is a must. Sit outside during the day and you will be able to see the Albanian coastline in the distance as you tuck into a plate of locally famous grilled sardines. European food such as pastas, pizzas, fine cold cuts and salads are the stars at La Casa whilst fish lovers should seek out Bamboo Restaurant where stacked sea food platters and giant prawns take centre stage.

All the usual shops to cover the essentials, plus great spots to pick up things to wear or keepsakes. For a more comprehensive shopping spree, you'd want to schedule a day trip to Corfu Town, where you'll find a treasure trove of artisan jewellery, leather, pottery and intricate carvings in local olive wood. Keep in mind that shops typically take a siesta from 2 to 5 pm, but then stay open well into the night. A notable perk of shopping in Corfu is the convenience of arranging a delivery of your purchases right to your hotel at a suitable time, and you only pay upon receipt – a tradition that predates the well-known Amazon model! Most of the stores are conveniently located in the town centre, while the charming Old Town hides markets and more eccentric shops within its winding streets. You'll find the shopkeepers here are welcoming and patient, always ready to chat and assist with your selections.

Surfing in Dassia

While Corfu may not be a hotspot for surf culture due to the absence of significant wave-breaking locations, surfing enthusiasts shouldn't be disheartened. Greece, with its array of 2,000 islands, certainly has some gems that cater to the thrill of riding the waves.

Head to Costa Navarino, the surfing capital situated on the south-western fringe of the Peloponnese. Here, the Ionian Sea stirs up impressive swells during the autumn and winter months, creating perfect conditions for surfing on the numerous accessible beaches. Lagouvardos, a surfers' top pick, is especially worth noting.

If you're a beginner looking to catch your first wave, the island of Ikaria provides the perfect setting with its gentle swells and an outstanding surf school to guide you. Other emerging surf havens include the beautiful islands of Crete and Tinos, increasingly gaining popularity among the surf community. So, there's plenty to explore for those with a passion for surfing in Greece.

During the excursion, you'll have plenty of opportunities for sunbathing and swimming in secluded coves accessible only by sea. Lunch is served on board, and other snacks and drinks are available for purchase. One of our favourite activities is the high-speed boat ride, bouncing over the waves to the beautiful Blue Lagoon.

Golf in Dassia

Corfu may only boast one golf course, but it's an absolute stunner. Nestled in the verdant Ropa Valley, the Corfu Golf Club has been meticulously designed to complement its natural surroundings. Designed by Swiss architect Donald Harradine, this 18-hole course is a marvel of tree-framed fairways winding around seven artificial lakes, set against the dramatic tableau of hills and mountains. The course's 6th hole is a standout, bordered by a water hazard shaped like Corfu itself - only an accurate tee shot will do. After your game, unwind in the clubhouse, an architectural beauty built from local stone. It's the perfect spot to relish gourmet cuisine crafted by one of Corfu's top chefs.

Cycling & mountain biking in Dassia

Dassia might not top the list as a well-known cycling hotspot, yet there are opportunities for bike enthusiasts, with several local businesses offering bike hire and a myriad of off-the-beaten-track routes awaiting discovery. Given the island's compact size, an ambitious cyclist can traverse its landscape in a single, exhilarating ride. You'll experience an array of challenges, from rigorous climbs in the mountainous North, to navigating winding roads and thrilling hairpin bends, all while being captivated by the island's striking scenery. A word to the wise - do come prepared. Carry spare inner tubes and safety gear, as cycling paths can be patchy and road conditions variable. This way, you're all set to enjoy Corfu on two wheels, soaking up the sun and the sights!

This island of breathtaking scenery, historic charms, succulent cuisine and pleasant climate is a paradise for walkers. The famous Corfu Trail, created in 2001, is a major attraction for walkers, offering a vast itinerary that crosses the entire island. Clearly signposted and well-maintained, the trail can be completed in a week, but many opt for day-long sections which offer an equally delightful experience.
