When to go to Europe largely depends on the specific countries and regions you plan to visit and the type of experience you’re seeking. In a nutshell, the summertime, between June to September, is the best time to visit - longer days, balmy weather, and vibrant activities such as outdoor excursions and festivals are all in the cards when travelling almost anywhere in Europe. During this time, the temperatures can vary around 30°C, with the hottest month being August.

Springtime, April to May, and autumn, September to October, are known as the shoulder seasons. This time is perfect for holidaymakers that wish to visit the region with fewer crowds and pleasant weather amidst sightseeing and a bucket-load of excursions. The Winter season offers a magical experience in Europe, with streets filled with festivities, aromatic Christmas markets, and winter sports in the Alpine region. The temperatures drop and are a lot cooler, but destinations near the Earth’s equator, such as the Canary Islands in Spain, stay consistently hot with no rain.

No matter how many times you’ve seen pictures of the Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos, it must be seen to be believed. Also known as Navagio Bay, the snow-white patch of sand here is home to a rustic wreck of the name MV Panagiotis Ship, drawn to the shore dating back to 1980. Loomed over by rising cliffs of limestone, it’s a sensational setting with aquamarine waters.

Playa de Ses Illetes is a heaven on Earth, nestled in Formentera, a small, Balearic Island in Spain. Famed for its turquoise waters of glass-clear visibility, its powdery-soft sands match to create picturesque scenery. This stunning beach sits at the tip of the island, and its unique beauty has earned its reputation as one of the most scenic beaches in Europe. Thanks to its shallow waters, it's idyllic for a snorkel or a gentle paddle. The Bay is part of the Ses Salines National Park, known for its ecological significance and protected status.

If you wish to see the marshmallow-pink sands of Elafonissi, head to Crete in Greece. This majestic beach pleases the eye of all beachgoers. Another great gem from Greece is a lush crescent, Myrtos Beach, surrounded by mountainous cliffs dressed in Khaki. May to October is the best time to visit Myrtos - that’s when its waters offer the best conditions for swimming and water excursions.
