Somewhere rather special.

Let's deal with the planes first: yes, they fly LOW directly over the hotel and yes, that means it will be noisy when they do. If you can't cope with that, DON'T stay here and then you won't have to write negative reviews on TA. The runway is about 700m from the hotel but we're okay with a few seconds of loud aircraft noise even if it happens a several times a day. Everything is... simply perfect. All the staff... just lovely. I made a note of names but sadly I've lost it but a special mention to the fabulously friendly and truly very smart Zoi (we hope you have a great time back home in Athens this winter) and the gentle, wonderful young lady managing the Spa. My wife had a 70minute massage and said it was one of the best ever. A huge thanks too to the lovely housekeeper who kept our room (108?) immaculate. Everyone made us feel special and valued. I don't know if it's adults only but I wouldn't recommend the Elektra for families with kids, although there is a small, sandy beach across the road. The property is calm, understated luxury, simple but stylish. Everything is well managed and maintained. We stayed four nights in the very last 6 days of the summer season and even though it was still quite busy, it was joyously restful. Location is a little isolated: we didn't hire a car but most do so the pool area was always quiet (it's heated - a rare and much welcomed treat). By chance we found a wonderful taxi driver who was native to Kephalonia and drove us around wherever we needed to go and at whatever time. Very knowledgeable, informative and reliable. I don't usually go back to places once I've ticked the visit box but I think we will definitely return to the Elektra Kephalonia.

We arrived in Kefalonia after our stays in Athens and Santorini for a relaxing change of pace. Boy did the island deliver! We booked a six-night stay at the Electra Kefalonia Hotel and Spa in Svoronata in June. It’s near the airport so it was an easy drive. We were greeted at check-in by Effie, who was delightful and very helpful, and Kosmas took care of our luggage and showed us to our room. We booked the Executive Room with Private Pool. Our room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed, large bath, seating area, desk, a flat screen tv, and coffee bar area. The patio had two sunbeds, a table and chairs, an infinity pool which we loved (!), a shaded area and a sun umbrella. The room included robes, slippers, and flip flops. It was very private and luxurious! It was perfect for a vacation from the vacation! It was convenient to Argostoli where most of our excursions started. We did need a rental car. The included breakfast was outstanding, and the open-air restaurant was pleasant and quiet. The staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Zoe, who was our friendly bartender and waitress. I do not drink and she introduced me to the Crazy Frog mocktail, which I ended up liking so much that when I’d order room service they stopped asking which drink I wanted, they already knew and brought one! We didn’t use the main pool so we can’t comment on that amenity. I did go to the spa for a massage, which was delightful. Clean, serene and tranquil. The restaurant served delicious dishes, especially the seafood. The hotel is a short walk from the rocking coast which is also beautiful. All in all, this accommodation was a wonderful respite to come back to after a long day exploring the island. We loved our room, the staff, and the location! We’d stay in this hotel again in a heartbeat as it is a great value.

A small resort bordering the airport. Not really a town or village just a few scattered shops and restaurants/tavernas. Beach not easily accessible particularly for those with even minor mobility problems. Some hotel/bed and breakfast accommodation altho those staying in srlf-catering (which was a reasonable amount) suffered most as shops poorly stocked for daily essentials (fresh bread etc).

Lovely staff - A few pointers for a true 5 stars

We spent almost 2 weeks at this hotel, and as other contributors have said, received excellent, friendly service from all staff - they really are a credit to the hotel. The holiday was expensive and My comments are related to areas that would make this hotel truly 5 star, some related to the design of the property. Although we were not aware at the time we were upgraded to a superior room on arrival. The room entrance was rather odd as one had to enter an alcove which was a shared entrance to the second floor room above (this was then accessed by a winding staircase). We later discovered this room type to be standard to which there is no lift access. Because of the staircase our superior room only had room for a wardrobe space of around 35cm wide, not really sufficient for one person, and a very small luggage storage rack. We were surprised that the bed was queen-size, although there was sufficient space between the bed and bedside table on both sides to fit a king. As others have said the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was not large and one wall was fitted with a toilet and bidet which left no room for the necessary bin! The fitments were of a high standard. There were no mirrors in the bedroom itself, only in the bathroom. Apart from causing difficulties for we ladies, it seemed dangerous to have to use the bathroom mirror to dry one’s hair. The infinity pool is stunning. To enhance this area perhaps more luxurious sun beds with deeper pads could be provided, with perhaps larger umbrellas for better shade. There is only one toilet by the pool - a separate womens and mens would be appreciated. As I said at the beginning of this, the staff were top class and ensured we had a good stay. I hope my comments, where possible, might assist in making this hotel truly 5 star.

A friendly, welcoming and comfortable hotel close to the airport. Our room, overlooking the garden and sea, was lovely and very quiet. There was ample choice at breakfast (scrambled egg was amazing) and the staff were always smiling and attentive. Sufficient parking if you rent a car and the spa and indoor pool were also great. I had a back massage in the spa done by Nancy, who was great, but Antonia and Emma were also very helpful too. The only things we could criticise, and they’re only minor, is that a colourful picture on the wall in our room would have been nice, as it’s otherwise rather bland. Also, despite hanging our bath towels up they were still changed every day, which seemed unnecessary, particularly in today’s environment. We highly recommend this hotel.
