I'd just like to preface my review with how much we spent. If we'd spent more, we'd expect more, and be less tolerant of issues (and there are some). I've read a couple of reviews and thought they were a little harsh, but then again perhaps they spent more than us, in which case I think it's fair enough to complain. We stayed here through Tui. Flights, transfers, a week's stay in "premium double room", half-board. 2 of us, £760 each. There seem to be a few buildings, just seems strange as the buildings not part of the 'main complex' don't seem to be represented well in the photos. We stayed in one of the annex buildings, and we liked our room it was nice to be fair. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY! Definitely not without it's problems but overall the positives outweighed the negatives. WASPS There were TOO MANY WASPS , particularly around the restaurant area. Everyone is trying to get a table inside because there are less wasps in there, but there aren’t enough tables for everybody. What annoys me about is an apparent lack of common sense from the hotel. They have plants which wasps are attracted dotted to around the premises. And they don’t have any baits. Why? On the walk to our room, there was a banana tree dropping leaves which wasps were attracted to, meaning there would be wasps on the floor which we had to walk past. My girlfriend got stung on the foot twice. I don’t understand why they don’t just sweep them to the side of the path. It’s a 10 second job. Wasps were an obvious problem and they weren’t doing much about it. SMELL This didn’t bother us too much, but our bathroom definitely kicked up some bad smells. These smells were also prevalent in the main premises, around the pool. Eggy, sewage kind of smells. Not nice but it wasn't as bad as people are saying in our opinion. Some people might be more bothered by it, and perhaps some rooms are worse than others. We heard a woman complaining and trying to get a room move when we were sat in reception on our last day waiting for our coach home. PRICES / DRINKS POLICY We think the drinks and some of the food is too expensive. I was sat on the perimeter of the bar during the day once, and a member of staff (very politely) asked if I could put my big bottle of water away. He hinted that he didn’t mind, but the hotel did. They seem to have a policy against bringing your own drinks to the pool. I’d understand it more if they weren’t as stingy with prices. Lower the prices slightly, and people would be more far more inclined to buy drinks at the bar in my opinion. FOOD The evening buffet was fantastic. Lots of food, lots of variety, and each evening they mixed up the options, with a few mainstays. The breakfast was also good, but not quite as good as the evening food in our opinion. We really enjoyed our evening meal every time. But again … TOO MANY WASPS, unless you pounce on a table inside when one becomes free. I thought the water tasted a bit weird, but my girlfriend disagreed. Most of the food is labelled (good for people with allergies etc). GYM It's small but I was quite impressed by the gym. Surprised they don't have more photos of it on their Tui page. The air conditioning was good and I kept cool throughout my workout. They've got a couple of benches, lots of dumbbells, a seated row and lat pull-down machine, a running machine, maybe there was a cross trainer too, hip adductor/abductor, a leg curl machine, and cables. There were another couple bits too. It should do the job for most people. Apart from the gym I don't really know why they call this place a "lifestyle resort". I think it's trying too hard to be something it's not. ENTERTAINMENT Teresa and Kim, the two girls on the entertainment team, they are fantastic. They play a huge part in giving the hotel a friendlier and more communal vibe, and the two of them seemingly have endless energy which rubs off on you. There are activities / games daily, like water polo, darts, sand bowls, water aerobics, karaoke. There was also a live singer one of the nights, who was very good. Please get a new darts board. It looks about 50 years old, and it’s so beaten that darts keep bouncing off of it. STAFF Receptionists All of the girls on reception, namely Flora and Fay were really helpful and lovely, as was the reception manager whose name we didn’t catch. Management We weren’t as fussed about the management, who to us seemed a bit more distant from guests. At dinner they’d often stand around and give floor staff instructions, rather than getting stuck in themselves. I didn’t like how blunt management sounded with the staff on the few occasions I overheard them, including the owner’s two sons who strut around the place like roosters. But maybe I’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Cleaners The cleaners were lovely. But they forgot to do our room 2 of the 7 days. And one of the days they left our balcony doors open (that's pretty bad …). I think most days they did very little cleaning to be honest - just changed our sheets (every 2/3 days) and swapped our towels. Apart from that they didn't do much, but I'm not going to criticise them because they might not have enough cleaning staff and they're in a rush or something. BEACH Their beach isn’t as nice as it looks in the photos, but it’s okay. Nothing to write home about. The sea is quite shallow for a while (just saying) and there's a fair bit of seaweed. LOCATION Kavos seemed quite segregated from the rest of Corfu. More seems to be going in the North of the island. The hotel is on the edge of Kavos strip, away from the rabble in the evening, which I think will suit most people. It didn't feel like we were in Kavos a lot of the time. If you are seeking it though, there is a lot of life in the evenings not far away at all. However we didn't feel like there was much to do in the immediate area, so it's a good thing that the hotel provides some entertainment during the day. There's a travel agent right next to the hotel, across the road from the main complex, who we booked a couple of boat trips through. There's a port a 5-minute drive away which all of the trips they sell leave from. Not the cheapest trips but not too bad, we recommend the one to Syvota and the Blue Lagoon. The road beside the hotel is quite busy. It's not as noticeable where the hotel is as it's a little wider, but as you walk down the strip it gets narrower and you get the occasional idiot going a bit too fast. We had to walk down the road single file at times when traffic was going both ways, and I felt I kept having to keep an eye on cars all the time. ALL IN ALL … we enjoyed our stay. But the hotel doesn't seem to know what it wants to be sometimes. I think it's trying to pass off as more boujee than it actually is, so if you want boujee this place isn't for you. I would definitely recommend going half board, the evening food was worth it in our opinion, and it didn't look like there were many decent restaurants on the strip. We went as a couple and found that a week was enough.
