The UK Easter holidays run from Friday 29th March 2024 for 2 weeks until Friday 12th April, which gives 2 full weeks and 3 weekends (total 16 days) to go away on vacation. Most Easter package deals run for 1 week but it's easy to book a full fortnight, if you can get the time off work!
Top Tip: unless you're booking an Easter ski holiday, leave the Easter Eggs behind - they will melt!
See off the winter in style with a Barbados hotel, or grab the last of the snow in an alpine ski hotel? The winter is over in the UK but the weather here is still rubbish - time to jet off to warmer climes! Unlike the earlier school holiday in February, by Easter the short-haul destinations in southern Europe can be on the cards, with both Greece and Turkey having mild weather maxing between 12°C and 22°C.
But if you want a balmy beach holiday, you're still going to be choosing to go long-haul, with conditions west in the Caribbean and East in the Indian Ocean and Asia at their very best. The most popular holidays for Easter sun will always be the classics like Barbados, the Bahamas, the Maldives and Mauritius, but ultra-bling upstart Dubai is fast catching up due to competitive prices. With Florida becoming almost as warm as the Caribbean by now, Easter holidays to Orlando and Miami are a top choice for families wanting a week at Disney or visiting the Keys and the Everglades.
You can't beat T-shirt skiing - fact. We love spring conditions, skiing hard all morning until a late lunch then, when the snow gets softer, an afternoon of après-ski in the sunshine, laughing and dancing with friends or family. There really is no better way to holiday together!
The trick to picking the best easter ski holiday depends on how much you want to ski. The higher snowsure resorts keep their snow the best so you can ski a longer day (Europe's highest Val Thorens at Easter is amazing) and the middle altitude resorts are often the best value, so you can ski for less (world number 1 Val d'Isere is still awesome at this time of year). It's best not to book the low resorts so late in the season, unless they have a lift up to a high ski area or glacier, and you don't might ending the day in a gondola rather than skiing down.
Easily the best way to spend your Easter holiday and probably the only way to come back a little lighter and fitter than when you left! Pick a catered chalet for the tradition experience, an all-inclusive ski holiday to set your budget from the outset, or a ski hotel if you think it's likely your mates will get FOMO once you're booked, and want to join the trip.
