We visited Castival Hotel in August for 10 nights as a large family of 11 and 1 baby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to family and friends. The hotel is generally clean, staff are welcoming and helpful. There is plenty of food offered 24/7 and none of us went hungry. Cocktails are amazing and they appear to use premium spirits on the all inclusive which is a good touch. Below is my list of pros and cons. Pros: - Drinks: Excellent choice of drinks, cocktails, spirits and soft drinks including mocktails. There is something for everyone and they have wide range of choice for an all inclusive. - Snack bar: Good choice of fast food such as nuggets, fries, freshly made to order pizza's and don't forget the amazing jacket potatoes available from 1pm. There are also freshly made waffles and ice creams available from 3pm next to the patisserie. - Patisserie: Amazing cakes, biscuits and fresh coffee's/juices available all day. This was a lovely touch as you feel like you are out visiting a bakery. - Water slides and activities: Water slides are brilliant for kids and adults, lots of fun to be had. Be mindful that there is only 1 lifeguard looking over 3 pools, so be careful if you have non-swimmers. There is also plenty going on around the pool and the entertainment team are great. Will also leave you be if you aren't interested in joining in. The pool area is clean and tidy and is well maintained. - Staff: Very helpful. The pool area guy - Mustafa is incredible and works so hard. Will constantly be cleaning up and bringing around waters and will even take orders for drinks if you tip him early on. He's a real credit to this hotel. Overall the staff are lovely and work very hard. - Location: Side malls are right outside the hotel. Great for shopping. You can also get the bus into Side old town for 1 euro and the town is beautiful. A must visit! The hotel will order a taxi but this will cost 20 euros into town. - Beach access and beach bar - there is a shuttle to take you down to the beach which takes around 3/4 mins. The hotels beach bar is beautiful and serves food and drinks all day. The hotel has it's own area but again sunbeds are gone pretty early. You'll need to reserve these by 9am at the latest. Cons: - Rooms: Decent size but lack storage. Not enough coat hangers and limited drawer space even with only 2 people staying for 10 days we really struggled with space. The rooms are cleaned daily but could be cleaned better. They're not terrible, but we often found it was a quick clean with some dust left on floors etc. Towels changed daily when left on the floor in the bathroom. Good enough for the price and definitely liveable. - Sunbeds: The sunbed situation is tough. As we went in peak season during the school holidays it may be better off peak but between the 11 of us, we had to each take it in turns to reserve sunbeds at 6.30am every single day, otherwise we had nowhere to sit and sunbathe. Be mindful that you also have to STAY with the sunbeds you have reserved from 6.30am otherwise they will remove your towel and leave you a note. If you leave it any later than 8am you will not get a sunbed. The pool staff will fetch you a sunbed if you ask, but there is very limited space to put these, especially if you are a large group. - Pool and outside space: Very limited. The pool is packed and loungers are packed into the space. Not a major issue for us, but if you want a spacious outdoor area you will need to head to the beach. - Buffet food - quite similar each day and there is now only 1 a la carte restaurant to dine in. We didn't use this so cannot comment. The inside dining area is also incredibly busy, people queuing from 6.45pm to get a table inside otherwise you are outside in the blistering heat. Again not a massive issue for us as we aren't fussy and we always found something to eat, and never had a bad meal. The BBQ area outside is lovely and they'll cook fresh meat and made to order fresh pasta dishes but be prepared to que and wait a good 20 mins for the past dish. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.
