Travelling to Trinidad and Tobago during peak season can be potentially busy and prices can vary but will be more expensive during school holidays. If you can travel outside of half term holidays, also known as off-peak season, this is where you will find the best deals for your dream holiday. If you do choose to travel to the Caribbean during peak season, we advise you to book your holiday early, at least six months in advance to get the best prices for your top choice of accommodation. Peak Season in Trinidad and Tobago is between December to May, as it is dry season and sees the least amount of rainfall. When booking during these times, expect higher prices, possibly limited availability and larger crowds.

February half term
Temperatures in February can reach highs of 30°C during the day, with lows of 20°C. Chances of rainfall are low, as February falls into the dry season, and you can expect hours of glorious sunshine.
Easter holidays
April is near the end of the dry season in Trinidad and Tobago, but there are still highs of 31°C during the daytime. During the night, temperatures may drop to around 20°C. There are at least 8 hours of sunshine during the day, and chances of rainfall, though higher towards the end of the month, are still lower than during the wet season.
May half term
May is a hot and humid month in Trinidad and Tobago, with highs of 32°C on any given day. The lowest temperatures reach 22°C during the night. You can expect short bursts of tropical rain followed quickly by hours of sunshine.
Summer holidays
July is in the wet season in Trinidad and Tobago, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying a fantastic holiday on these beautiful islands. Temperatures can reach up to 31°C and sea temperatures sit comfortably at 28°C. There is still an average of 8 hours of sunshine each day, and the lowest temperatures at night are 23°C.
August is also in the wet season, so do expect more chance of rainfall during your holiday, but it is also one of the warmest months with high temperatures of 31°C. Low temperatures of 24°C usually occur during the night, and sea temperatures are warm 27°C. Rainfall is more common, but intermittent tropical showers can be the perfect chance to cool down during the day.
October half term
As Trinidad and Tobago sit outside the hurricane belt, this is the perfect destination to head to in the Caribbean. Expect hot temperatures of 31°C, and frequent tropical showers that are quickly replaced with sunshine.
Christmas & New Year
During December, it is the beginning of the dry months and temperatures reach 30°C during the day. There is less rainfall than in previous months and it is a great time to enjoy the Caribbean Sea with temperatures of 27°C.
January sees highs of 30°C during the day and 20°C during the night. As one of the driest months out of the whole year, January is a great time to visit Trinidad and Tobago. Chances of rainfall are incredibly low, and the sea temperature sits at 27°C.
Best destinations for half term & school holidays in Trinidad and Tobago
Scarborough in Tobago is littered with amazing beaches and resorts, two of which are family-friendly as so great for kids.
For the best snorkelling spots, head to Tobago as it has a fringing reef system all around the island and maybe beaches offer some marine life. But Englishman’s Bay is a lovely white, sandy beach with a gently sloping coral reef on the right, and there is a variety of coral specials to be seen. The beach itself is surrounded by green, lush vegetation and you will feel like you’re in paradise. The corals themselves are home to moray eels and octopus and possibly even some stingray on the sea bottom.
Explore the rainforests, enjoy sunbathing on the large north coast beaches, or take your pick of the variety of water sports and laid-back atmosphere. While there may not be any huge, mega-fancy resorts, the hotels in Trinidad and Tobago bring their own, relaxed charm with many offering beachfront views.
