The people of Trinidad and Tobago embrace the new year with fantastical celebrations and enthusiasm. Old Year’s Night is an occasion celebrated by spending time with family and friends to bring in the New Year. For some, the New Year is bought in with prayer and worship at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on Independence Square in Port-of-Spain. New Year’s Day also marks the beginning of the Carnival Season in Trinidad and Tobago.
