March is the start of turtle nesting season, where an array of turtle species can be found returning to Trinidad to lay their eggs. This is a peak month to witness the incredible ritual of turtle-watching, and can be spotted across the island, and is known as one of the world’s best spots to experience it.
As a country with an abundance of different cultures, the Hindu festival of Phagwa (also known as Holi) is widely celebrated across the islands. The locals celebrate with singing, dancing and most importantly, throwing the vibrant coloured powders in a show of good health, and promoting it for the year to come.

There is no better place to spot the incredible creatures than the Black Rock area on the west coast of Tobago. Also known as Turtle Beach, this is a great place to stay as the strip of hotels along the beach set up their own watching sessions – but be prepared for a last-minute call from hotel staff to visit the beach on short notice, turtles can be unpredictable!
