On the 26th October the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines come together to celebrate the anniversary of their Independence Day. Pride emanates across the islands and celebrations are afoot as we remember St Vincent’s troubled past.
October is unfortunately one of the wetter months here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. However, don’t let this put you off as there is little seasonal variety all year; so, any time is a good time to visit. It is worth noting that the Grenadine islands are much drier than the mainland St Vincent, as they are scattered further south.
However, there is still plenty to do in St Vincent. The market square in Kingstown is a hive of activity at the weekend selling local produce. Like everything about the culture of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the market is both authentic and welcoming. There is a plethora of herbs and spices sold at the stalls, with guidance and tips on how and where to use them.
In October, St. Vincent & the Grenadines has an average temperature of 28.5°C, with highs of 31°C and lows of 26°C. There is a high chance of rainfall with an average of 19 days of rain in the month. October is part of hurricane season; however, the islands lie in the southernmost part of the hurricane belt and so occur less frequently.
