At the end of January, the laidback island of Bequia invites you to celebrate the eclectic sounds of their selected regional, local and global artists at the five-day Bequia Music Festival. Immerse yourself in the easy-going, intimate crowds of bare-footed locals, as both types of spirits (rum and soul) are high!
If you are planning to visit the Bequia Music Festival, we recommend you explore the secluded and idyllic beaches that lace Bequia’s shores. Bequia, translating to “island of the clouds” is just 7x2 miles of unadulterated paradise, so beach hopping is a must! If you travel by sea, you will find yourselves at the picturesque harbour of port Elizabeth, an area littered with street vendors and restaurants,’ which offer up delicious local cuisines. If you are staying on the island of Bequia, we recommend staying here if you’re a big foodie who fancies a bit more of a buzz.
Amidst the sailboat moorings, floats the quirky bar, Bar One. Aboard this, welcoming and friendly dinghy are numerous bar swings in which to chill out, soak up the resplendent surroundings and of course, taste the famed rum punches.
The beach of Princess Margaret lies just beyond the Port, where unfathomable blue hues gently lap the iconic, powdery-white sands. From the Port, take the scenic cliffside route - if you don’t mind heights - of the Belmont Walkway to this unspoilt haven, enjoying a drink at Jack’s Beach Bar en route. Home to some of the rarest black coral in the world, swimming and snorkelling are a must.
