The best time to visit St Lucia completely depends on what you are looking for from your holiday, the island is truly a fabulous place to visit all year round. If you want to avoid the peak season this runs from December through to April meaning prices during these months will be at their highest where hotels and excursion hot spots will be busy. The peak season goes hand in hand with the best weather, with minimal rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures during these months, albeit still nice and hot! Rainfall is at its heaviest from June through to January however, there are still more than enough of those perfectly warm sunny days and any rainfall generally comes as a short and heavy humid shower which will clear off quickly. The idyllic beaches of St Lucia can be enjoyed year-round but if you are keen for long lazy beach days then we would recommend travelling during the dry season which runs from December through to May when humidity and rainfall are at their lowest. Be sure to check out some of the island's top beaches such as Reduit Beach, Jalousie Beach and Anse Chastanet to name just a few.
Thanks to the warm tropical climate of St Lucia snorkelling can be enjoyed year-round on this island. Most of the islands best snorkel spots can be found along the west coast, which is sheltered from trade winds. Here there is an abundance of small bays and shallow reefs which are ideal snorkelling locations where you have the chance to see some of the common dive sightings in Saint Lucia which include parrotfish, pufferfish, lobster, stingrays, manta rays, turtles, and sea horses.
Surfing in St Lucia is best suited for beginners as the swells do not tend to reach great heights. Cas en Bas, which is located on the Atlantic side of the island, is a great surfing beach. Anse de Sable is another haven for windsurfers, here you will find glorious white sand beaches that look over to the beautiful Maria Islands. Although unpredictable and inconsistent the best time of year for surfing St Lucia, with steady clean rideable waves, is December through to May.

St Lucia in January
Glorious sunshine awaits you in January with an average temperature of 27°C, it is right in the middle of peak season so expect higher prices are busier crowds. Following on from New Year the 1st & 2nd of January are national holidays, visitors to the island can expect huge celebrations and beach parties during this period. The Laureate Festival, a blend of workshops, panels, seminars, music, food and drink take place all over the island from the 6th of January until February.
St Lucia in February
February is one of the driest and least humid times of the year with an average temperature of 27°C. With the low humidity, February is a great month for outdoor excursions, we would highly recommend a guided hike up Gros Piton which can be found on the West Coast of the Island. Independence Day is on the 22nd of February where there will be a wide array of celebrations and colourful parades.

St. Lucia is a hotspot in March for the humpback whales that live in the Caribbean waters off the coast of the island. A week-long musical celebration that has been running annually since 1992, the festival is one of the most established and anticipated jazz, blues, R&B and Calypso festivals in the Caribbean. The 1st of May is a national holiday in St Lucia celebrating Labour Day.
