September the 16th is National Heroes Day On St Kitts and Nevis. This is a public holiday in honour of the individuals who have made the greatest contribution to the country’s advancement.
Independence Day is celebrated on the 19th, but the party begins with a concert on the night of the 18th. On both celebratory days, you can expect the streets to be full of music, dancing and colourful costumes. There will also be parades, calypso shows and some ‘street jamming’.
Conaree beach is the perfect place to enjoy the 31°C weather. This beach faces the Atlantic Ocean and is covered in grey and black sand, a result of the island's volcanic history. Equally as soft as it is striking, this quiet beach is ideal for sunbathers. You can also enjoy some snorkelling along the reef or bodysurfing.
September is usually a quiet month for tourism, and thus you could explore the normally popular attractions uninterrupted. You can explore most of the island by minibus or taxi, stopping off at popular landmarks along the way (list some places)
