This festival is three days full of mouth-watering dishes, fun entertainment and an engaging crowd, and should not be missed!
The Nevis Culturama festival, which is spread over 12 days in July, is an annual summer festival celebrating the emancipation of slaves in the 1830s by showcasing the island’s rich culture and heritage through ‘Fete, Food and Folklore’. This includes a range of pageants, a street fair and the final cultural parade on display on the last day of the festival.
While the weather will be wetter than in the dry season, there is still plenty of sun in July (around 9 hours each day). Head down to the beach to sunbathe in the hot temperatures, which reach a staggering 31°C, and cool off in the sea. Considered one of St Kitts's best beaches, Cockleshell beach has warm shallow waters and many facilities. It also offers a range of water sports operators to keep you entertained during the day and is perfect for the whole family.
For the history buffs, Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a historical feature on a hill on St Kitts. Open daily, this engineering genius is a memento of the past – the battles fought over the colonising of St Kitts and Nevis – and has beautiful views looking out to sea.
